Sears Tower = U.S. Steel Tower on STEROIDS

I mentioned this on another topic, but consider...

uh, I guess the color is similar

DBR96A Apr 11, 2007 7:04 AM

- Same color/dark and imposing
- Both the dominant buildings in their respective skylines
- Both built in the '70s
- U.S. Steel Tower looks "normal"/Sears Tower looks jagged and muscular

I don't see it, but i love em both.

PhillyRising Apr 11, 2007 11:27 AM

I don't see it either. The only thing they seem to have in common is that they are the same color...built in the same era and the tallest building in their respective cities.

Sears might be "on steroids," but USX could definitely take it in a brawl. I actually made a thread about this once and I think that it was fairly universally agreed that, while not the largest, most forumers would really not like to run into USX in a dark alleyway.

i don't see it either.

but i do dearly love both of these magnificent skyscrsapers.

Evergrey Apr 11, 2007 2:42 PM

If anything, US Steel Tower is more similar to the John Hancock Tower in Chicago moreso than Sears...

I don't see it really. I can understand where you're coming from, but you could practically say that with every black box building (ooh, alliteration). I mean I could say the Sears Tower is this on steroids and that would be just as acceptable.
