Maybe in Moscow? - snow on the ground!

Distill3d Mar 12, 2007 7:35 PM

don't know where they are, but i can tell you where they belong...

Jonovision Mar 12, 2007 8:06 PM

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing pics of these under construction in Moscow. I can't remember what they're called though.

KevinFromTexas Mar 13, 2007 1:11 PM

At the suggestion of Biff, I looked into it, (using Emporis), and they're in Moscow.

These are called the Khodynsky Bulvar 5.

The four towers are 33 floors each and were completed in 2006. The buildings of course are a residential complex. They're apparently part of a large complex of buildings, up to 19 towers in all. The shortest ones are 12 floors tall.

Their names go like this:

Khodynsky Bulvar 5-1
Khodynsky Bulvar 5-2
Khodynsky Bulvar 5-3
Khodynsky Bulvar 5-4

Emporis pages on them.

Khodynsky Bulvar 5-2 - This is only one they had pictures for. Good thing, too, otherwise I wouldn't have found them.

Sometimes I get angry that there is so much politics and red tape involved with getting (semi-) tall buildings built in my home town. If that's what it takes to keep towers like that from getting built in Ottawa, I greet the politicians with open arms! There is just nothing aesthetically pleasing about those buildings. Maybe they look better in real life?

It's the Moscow version of Chicago's equally hideous Presidential Towers.

don't be so mean, those towers are much better than chicago's presidential towers complex. they may be ugly, but at least they're interesting, which is more than you can say for the offensively banal presidential towers.

You may be right....but I had to deduct major points for the coloring, which looks disgustingly similar to the WDW Swan Hotel in Orlando.

Every instinct in my body tells me I should hate these.

But I don't.

Maybe I am just a sucker for anything that reminds me of old factories.

Hey at least Presidential Towers don't detract from the good architecture in Chicago. They're there, but they are easily missed. I'd rather have something bland than something that is so attention grabbing that it draws the eye from everything else around it like this would.

Im really drawn to these towers. Would have like it alot better if it were twins thoe.

ewww...disgrossting architecture

Junctionist Mar 16, 2007 4:43 AM

Doesn't look too home-like and warm to me. That design would be lousy even if they hadn't gone with the pink...

They probably don't have bedbugs either.
