Charlotte 2009 Year in Photos:
Photos that I took in Charlotte in 2009 for various media. A Day in the Life of Bill Fehr: A short documentary about Bill Fehr, an 11 year veteran of the Charlotte bicycle messenger scene. We talk bicycle culture, smelly possums, and what it is like to experience Charlotte from the seat of a bike on a daily basis. |

Cheers and enjoy. P.S:. click on video links for 10x better viewing experience (1080 HD). |

Wow that video of the Detroit people mover sure looks empty for a late afternoon! You also didn't see any pedestrian life either! Does downtown Detroit empty out after 5 PM?

But yea, it was the middle of winter so most people weren't going to be out anyway. Lately, within the time since that video was made, downtown retains a little bit of traffic in some spots (mostly along the Riverfront and in Midtown), but still relatively low compared to similar urban areas. I'm also the type of person to avoid photographing people so I don't really try to include them in my shots. The next car over had people in it (and even a film crew) and occasionally there was one other person with me in the car I was riding in, but yea, before 9 and after 5, it's very easy to find yourself alone downtown if without too much effort. At some point, I want to take pictures of people while I'm down there, but I haven't quite mustered up that sort of confidence yet. :P |

A windy day on Signal Hill, a drive down Water Street (our main downtown drag on a lazy Sunday), and a trip up Barter's Hill.
