What a cute little happening place!

Nice pictures! There are dozens of similar gold rush towns in the Sierra Nevada foothills in Northern California. I was born in one (Jackson) but never lived there.

Thank you for posting these photos. The Sierra foothill towns are very nice. I enjoyed mountain biking in Auburn when I went to school in Sacramento and my aunt and uncle retired to Grass Valley after living in Southern California. I am surprised more people don't retire to these foothill towns.

I resized the photos because today I noticed how really big they looked on my work computer, compared with how they look on my home computer, which is where I originally posted the photos. Funny how that happens.

I regret not pulling over and taking pictures of the really tall pine forests and the pines on the mountain slopes when we were in the Sierras in Tuolumne County, but we wanted to push through to get to Sonora.

Well, had we driven to Sonora directly from South Pasadena/LA, it would have taken about 5.5 to 6 hours... that's how long it took us to get home when we left Sonora.

It took us many hours to get to Sonora, but we first stopped in Bishop for brunch, then when on to June Lake and then Mono Lake, and then from there went to Sonora, and then back home to South Pas.

there's a very good hard cider company, Indigeny, located about halfway between Sonora and Twain Harte. it's definitely worth a visit--I'm not much of a hard cider fan, but I had to admit it was excellent.
