Took this yesterday in Rancho Cucamonga and downtown as the crow flies is 43 miles away, incredible clarity for Socal as our heatwave ramps up and the Santa Ana winds get going.

Not really "far, far" but an unusual view. Coney Island to Manhattan is about 10 miles as the crow flies.

Here is one that's really impressive: Milwaukee visible from Grand Haven clear across Lake Michigan.
http://media.mlive.com/chronicle/new...db1ac51585.jpg Source: http://www.mlive.com/news/muskegon/i...ee_seen_t.html This was due to Atomospheric lensing when warm lake air is trapped under much denser colder air. This is over an astounding distance of 85 miles with no elevation difference between the two cities. https://i.imgur.com/bSvbSKP.jpg This is the Chicago skyline from St. Joseph Michigan, 60 miles across the Lake. Oh and if the skyline looks like it's upside-down, that's because it is. The bending of the light flips the image. Source: http://www.freep.com/story/news/loca...igan/26453967/ |
