^Sighisoara was amazing, I visited in 2004. It's like a fairy story town that place - dark woods, chocolate box houses and sinister castles.

Ok, BRIDGES:

Cheers to Big-Dog, suspension bridge 1200ft above the river, and world's second highest bridge:

Contracts has been signed, and 26 february construction started on the Hardangerbridge project. The lengt is 1380 meters, and the span is 1310 meters. Sailingsheight is 55 meters and towers reach 186 meters.

The bridge will have to lanes and a with of 7,5 meter for the roadway, and a bike/walkpath. The trafic on the bridge is only estimated for 1850 vehicles per day in 2020 since it's located in a very sparsely populated area. Opening is scheduled for 2013.

Atm. a ferry runs over the fjord every 20 - 60 minutes depending on the season, the ferry takes 10 minutes. Project will cost 1800 million kroner (around 200 million euro.) and over half of this will be payed by toll on the ferry and after completion on the bridge.

The national routes 7 and 13 crosses the fjord, route 7 is the shortest road between Norways largest cities Bergen and Oslo - but it's not prefered because of poor road condition and bad weather across 1300 meter high Hardangervidda plateau. Route 13 is a prefered inland north/south regional connection.

In each end of the bridge it goes directly into a tunnel with a trafic-circle, a total of 2,4 km tunnel and 0,8 km road is included in the project:

Interesting, I may have been there before when I was really young, and may just not remeber it. My family used to vacation on Table Rock Lake, but I belive it was always on the Missouri side. One year we rented a house boat for a week and may have crossed into Arkansas without even knowning it. We used to visit the nearby towns as well, so I may have been there. I have been yearning to go back to that area, its been about 12-15 years since my last visit. Absolutley beutiful terrain.

I was in Grindelvald in 2001. Beautiful place. I remember the town ran along the one side of a long, narrow lake. And on the other side of the lake were these massive cliffs. At least I'm pretty sure it was Grindelvald...

Either way, someone was growing hemp (or possibly ganj?) right in their back yard. Good way to freak out an 11 year old Canadian.
