Even though people make fun of this "skybridge to nowhere" (across the river from me in Davenport, Iowa) I kind of like it. It has a nice light show at night.

Skybridge to nowhere? Where does, or doesn't, it go?
|
^^
Nowhere. :D |
It actually goes across a busy thoroughfare to a riverboat casino on the other side. The locals call it "The skybridge to nowhere" because it kind of looks as if it just ends (there is an elavator that takes you down giving the impression that it just hangs there) It will eventually hook up to a bigger gambling complex that will replace the current one but that plan is on hold because the NIMBY'S and Sierra club are fighting it. They will have to dredge a little bit of the Mississippi river for the complex but the Sierra club thinks that it will disturb the carp or something stupid. So until then the bridge will just look kind of goofy the way it abruptly ends.

Well not my favorite but the only one I can think of locally offhand.
These connections between the buildings in the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital complex in uptown Manhattan http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...9/ecc4e743.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...9/8132cb78.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...9/a4403006.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...9/804e15f0.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...9/e6d203cd.jpg |
not nearly as impressive as the davenport one though
|
I like the one between the two towers of the Wrigley building in Chicago.
|
Far from the most beautiful skybridges in the world but the Merchandise Mart complex in downtown Atlanta is chock-a-block with skybridges. Here are a few on the back side of the original Mart building that lead to the building that was built on top of the old Trailways bus terminal garage.
