Jaroslaw, that's exactly what I keep asking myself. Those vertical cranes are usually used for foundations. So why are they back ?
Is it because of the new building height (still a Mori Co. secret) they have to do some additional work ? Fabb said no : Quote:
A bigger height increases weight, but what about the added wind pressure? Is Shanghai in a typoons zone ? |
I am glad this project really u/c....so fine looking tower.

A rendering of the observation deck inside the top circular hole. I had never seen this before, it gives a good indication of its thinner upper floors size.

It'll be a dizzying experience.
|
I thought they gonna built the ferry' wheel..?
|
Any guesses as to when the first pic showing SWFC rising out of the ground will get posted?
I look forward to seeing pictures of the building as it starts to grow upward. |
We don't know yet precisely when it will rise (see previous messages). I'll post a photograph as son as I'll find one. May be someone in Shanghai will.

I think its still part of the plans. Those renders are from years ago, I remember them on WTB.com.
|
According to an article i read, official height will still be only 492 meters. that's not going to beat Taipei 101 to be world's tallest. I don't know why media keeps saying SFC will become world's tallest.
|
Some years ago, a ferris wheel was planned for a recreation park in the North Bund new area projects. This has nothing to do with WFC or the Lujiazui zone.
|
^That's what i thought too.
|
no, there will be a ferris wheel inside the circular top of the building. Someone posted a model of that b4.
|
I did see something about a ferris wheel inside the building before, but I don't think that it was a real serious proposal
|
2 Van Gogh : Thanks, I had never heard about it before. I do hope this was not a serious proposal. Can someone post a rendering for this nonsense ferris wheel on the SFC ?
|
Ferris wheels are just good for amusement parks. Do they really think that they can lure tourists with that kind of ugly things ?
Sadly, they can. |
Razqal: that's because you're experiencing the mystical media's mind-bending fact-altering self-hype machinization of the 21st century...
:sly |
I think it is serious. Its not really a ferris wheel, its more like a tram thing. Like the thing in the Gateway Arch in St Louis. You cant see it, its inside. The glass on the top is like clear so people riding in it can see outside. I think.
There was a post here. I remember it. With renderings and photos. If anybody still has it? I even had one a animation from Crystal CG. I cant find it on my comp though. GRR! EDIT: I found it! The original couldnt fit on my ftp. I had to make it a DIVX file. The video is pretty good quality but the sound sucks. Oh well. You guys prolly just wanna see the ferris wheel anyways. Its near the end. Here it is. I dont know how long I can keep it hosted. http://members.cox.net/qthai/shjinrongzhx.avi |
Thanks for the divx post.
I need to solve technical problems to be able to view it (does not work with latest QuickTime). Which software did you use? |
