I like the Water Street in the rain (or is it snow) at night photos, they look like paintings. Great atmosphere. Also you get some fine vantage points for overlooking Water St.

Great photos - the snow looks very romantic.. Well.. until it's plowed up higher than the stop signs

I saved this one as my screensaver.. My house is one block further south (on the corner of Fitzpatrick) - speaking of which, anyone looking for a rental? Hahaha.. Our tenants are leaving this month

It looks like Pennywell Road, which has some of the nicer rows of houses of the "newer" sort.

That's exactly it, Architype. I live on Prince of Wales Street and that scene is right at the top of mine.

Here is the new view from George Street west for the past couple of weeks.

This thread will be amazing in eleven months! I haven't gotten out since I've come back, but I certainly plan on trudging around in the powder in a couple days! :hyper:

I think 100cm is only forecasted in a very unlikely weather model. The official forecast is for 70-80cm but CTV rounds up I guess!

But yes, 110km/h winds and lots of snow! Did you all order your pizzas and chinese food?? :haha:

Not very unlikely, but yes, it turns out it is one of the least likely.

However, Ayeronaut heard on the radio that the wind could create drifts of 3m.

That's believable!

Awesome pictures Ayreonaut! I love how everything looks so deserted. It makes it seem very.. 1800's! and you both have great shots of water street because there is finally no cars in the way!

You should definitely brave "Day 2" and get some more of your fantastic shots along with signal!

Oh I know I'll be out again. If I spot some other nut out there with his camera I'll definitely check to find out if it's Signal. :P

Edit: Also, AAAHHH!!! I am so excited for this thread. We have at least three of us now with SLRs who will be out and about taking pictures.

It's very cool. And J does project updates we rarely think of as well.

If it's the video I think it is, then yes. And I also heard the audio from it on the radio yesterday afternoon, haha.

Those are dramatic and beautiful photos.
I noticed not much activity online today, I learned some people are just regaining power, and I guess have been busy shoveling, etc.

Fantastic pictures today guys! I still don't have power and have a lot of digging left to go, so don't expect too much out of me tomorrow! Haha! Hope you all enjoyed the storm even if we were robbed 30cm :(

well at least now we can imagine how an Apocalypse would look like in Downtown St. John's!

These are the two most moving ones to me:

This one because these are places of business and modern bustling city downtown ... completely dead and overtaken by the crazy wind and snow - very post apocalyptic

This one because it is such a predominant symbol of the past and "hope and God" completely abandoned and the virgin statue almost helpless looking

Wow, thank you. :) I liked the Virgin's statue as well. She looks like she's huddled and shivering from a distance.
