New Plans for former Turnberry Project in SA
Mixed-use project planned
Web Posted: 06/14/2007 08:02 PM CDT Rachel Stone Express-News Business Writer Two San Antonio developers have grand mixed-use plans for a 99-acre tract near La Cantera. Galo Properties and Fulcrum Development have entered a joint venture to develop the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 — one of the choicest undeveloped retail corners in the state, and one that had been off the market for two decades until recently. They're planning two hotels, 1 million square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail space and 1,500 multifamily units in a project that will take seven to 10 years and "many hundreds of millions of dollars" to complete. The tract had been known as "Regal Hills" because of a retail development that Florida-based Turnberry Associates had planned there, but the new owners will rename it. Turnberry announced its project two years ago as a joint venture with Mexico City-based Galleria Ventures Ltd. http://www.mysanantonio.com/business...s.2baa669.html .............................................. I wasn't aware that the Regal Hills project was not going forward. |
well... they better build something better than just a 10 story office building or im gonna shit more than bricks in their direction!!!!!!!

This seems to be just the 99 acres that Turnberry was set to development, there's still the 300 arces that is being played I believe as La Joya with those highrise condos, etc.

If you look closely at the two site plans for the two different porjects you'll see that they both fit into place.

They are going for a five star for one of the two hotels, I wonder which? And would it be a highrise? That's probably going to be the most exciting corner of all four. Northwest corner you have The Shops which are nice but that's it, just upscale shopping. On the southwest corner you have I believe Valero's HQ and a now under construction 10 story hotel. On the northeast corner you have The Rim, that's going to be really nice when it's all finished but the retail parking is too boxy and it's a monster of parking surface lots. I think the additional parts of The Rim will help balance that out from The Village and highrise hotel to the homes and offices. But the southeast corner is just going to rock, that's all that needs to be said.
