^Los Angeles' skyline growth is minuscule now, if you compare it with the growth happening in Chicago and with future NYC plans.
The U/C and proposed buildings in Chicago alone can eclipse the present LA skyline. Admit it and shut up. I m gonna stop on this now, now lets please get back on our topic.
Try to find some updates about this project.

Stop comparing LA to Chicago, they are entirely two different cities and grew in entirely different ways. Chicago has the skyline, LA has the future and growth. No point in comparing two entirely different modes of how a city grew by skyline size. Someday Phoenix will pass Chicago's population, no point in comparing those two, either.

JManc Jul 7, 2007 3:57 AM

can we stop bickering about who's skyline is bigger and get back to the proposed new building?

which i like, btw.

WonderlandPark Jul 7, 2007 3:59 AM

Hope this gets built. Over in the Vegas thread, is a link to an article about Africa-Israel, and how they are getting in big there. Hopefully that means they will be players in LA and get this thing off the ground.

Hey Patrick, thanks for all of this! Not just for your defense against that lame forumer but also because of the renders! Do you think you could add the Ritz to the second render? And how about Concerto, Hanover, and Meruelo as well? ;)

Quixote Jul 7, 2007 4:12 AM

Also, note that the taller of the two skyscrapers will be 850 ft. as opposed to the listed 820 ft. The title of this thread needs to be changed.

This guy needs to be dealt with harshly. If he continues to troll in this thread, which he made it clear that he would stop doing so, I would suspend him. There's nothing in this thread that warrants such stupidity, if you ask me. ;)

Lol..Westside, your about as mean as I am.

I like ya. Lol.

But in all seriousness, back to Park Fifth, one thing that I hope is that, like what is being done in South Park, is the improvements of the sidewalks and overall landscape of that area. Cafe's and restraunts are fine but no one wants to eat on a crumbling sidewalk with bums bugging you.

Quixote Jul 7, 2007 4:49 AM

Well, I don't know about you guys but I've been inspired by Patrick's sketches. This is the best I could do:

I made a quick model of Park5th in Google sketchup, inserted it into the Google Earth LA skyline. (I made most of the LA buildings in the pics too) :)

Its going to be much more prominent that I thought!!

Unobstructed from the Transamerica Center Resturant!

Very Nice!

Very Prominent from Dodger Stadium!

Very VERY noticable from Staples Center!

My favorite view, fills in the Gap between Bunker Hill and Downtown.

My only Complaint is that the tower is lined up with US Bank, so eather it Blocks US Bank, or US Bank blocks Park5th.

If anyone wants anymore views just ask!

Very cool renderings.

aluminum: move along.

Tanster Jul 7, 2007 6:23 AM

Park Fith will be an awesome addition to the L.A Skyline

Hey Patrick those are some good shots.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._tower_top.jpg

The top part of the building reminds of the world tower in Sydney, although that 'cap' is bigger on top this tower. It could look good if they illuminate the whole 'cap' at night.
Sorry for such a large image.

And it may look better if they change the color of the cap according to the season.

Patrick Jul 9, 2007 12:51 AM

What will the top be used for anyways?

Tanster Jul 9, 2007 5:18 AM

The only thing ive heard is that the roof will be an observation deck

Just don't go up there if a city-sized spaceship hovers over downtown LA.
