Nice! I had been to Elgin High School as a teenager, but never saw downtown.

I have a friend from Elgin. She never complains about the heat in the South, having grown up in northern IL.

"She got an Elgin movement from her head down to her toes, break in on a dollar most anywhere she goes..."

Were any of the downtown buildings built by the Elgin watch company?

It’s nice to see others areas in metropolitan Chicago. Some of my cousins moved to Elgin from California over 15 years ago so I was able to visit this city a couple times. It’s an interesting mix of old and new cookie cutter homes. They lived in a newer neighborhood in Elgin, which I hated because without a car I was stranded. Although I enjoyed seeing the older parts of town, and the Metra train had a station there with access to Chicago. I never visit the Library, but it looks quite interesting.
Thanks for sharing these photos, it brings back memories of my visits to Elgin. By the way the best Chile Relleno I had was from Elgin. |
