ATLANTA | Trump Towers

http://andreabennett.com/public/various/trump.jpg

Two towers with the tallest to be 48 stories and the second to be 30+ (Emporis has it listed as 38.)

The sales office is set to open at the EOY with construction set for early 2007 (on the 48 story tower.)

The location is in Midtown Atlanta at 15th and West Peachtree.

CHAPINM1 Aug 8, 2006 5:12 PM

I'd be willing to bet the tallest tower will be in the 600 foot range.

ATLmangum Aug 8, 2006 5:14 PM

I'd say about 620 for the first and about 470 for the second.

CHAPINM1 Aug 8, 2006 5:37 PM

I think Trump will definetly want the building/or buildings to stand out and surpass most of the current buildings in Midtown (GLG Grand Four seasons, 1180 Peachtree, Promenade 2, ect)...

zerokarma Aug 14, 2006 6:03 PM

Any other renderings? that picture kind of sucks

smArTaLlone Aug 15, 2006 2:11 PM

same rendering... just a little more clear.

mayhem Aug 15, 2006 4:51 PM

The glass is definitely not gold. The rendering is done at sunset.

Dale Aug 15, 2006 5:15 PM

But even if the glass were gold, surely Atlanta could sustain one gold tower. The problem with Vegas is the compulsion to build just one more gold tower.

-GR2NY- Aug 15, 2006 5:25 PM

damn i like this one

sabino86 Aug 15, 2006 6:23 PM

This is gonna be badass.

You know, it is really a shame that this tower is not one. I'm not going to get into the whole supertall but this tower at 80 plus stories would be simply majestic in Atlanta's already beautiful skyline.

ATLmangum Aug 15, 2006 8:23 PM

Knowing Trump, he released this rendering just to wet our appetite. Remeber how Terminus said that at street level the rendering didn't even meet zoning specs. From the looks of it this is just a "conceptual" drawing. I'll bet you a pair of Trump cuff-links that the final rendering will be one huge tower. That said I prefer the two towers over one big one.

Dream'n Aug 15, 2006 9:02 PM

The buildings are nice enough and will be OK in the skyline but it seems to me that these would fit either better along a waterfront (I'm thinking Baltimore or something like that) or in Vegas. It does sort of have that casino look to it.

macdaddy Aug 15, 2006 9:07 PM

Call me the eternal optimist, but how cool would it be if they sell out so fast, that both towers have to go much higher to accomodate the buying volume. I'd still have the southeast tower be several floors higher than the shorter one, though. They relate to each other much more interestingly that way.

StreetCandy Aug 15, 2006 9:12 PM

anyone know what currently sits on this block and if it's on the east or west side of w. peachtree?

macdaddy Aug 15, 2006 9:36 PM

It's west of West Peachtree, between it and Spring Street. It's an empty lot now. Not sure, but it might be used for parking.

john3eblover Aug 15, 2006 9:51 PM

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...k/trumplot.jpg

this is the lot as it looks now, this is facing south towards 14th street. seen from 1280 West Peachtree

Chris Creech Aug 16, 2006 12:41 AM

:previous:

With the complex facing/focusing so much on that new extension of 15th street, I wonder if they'll do any sort of remodeling or refacing of the other side of the street. Now when people walk out of Trump they'll be looking right across the street at a huge blank brick wall and a 10 storey parking deck. I know if they were being built today that wouldn't pass zoning muster for street facing buildings, but they weren't built as street facing.

Maybe they could do a mural on the big brick wall and some sort of architectural screening/landscaping on the parking deck. At least maybe a nice wide sidewalk on that side with some big trees.

Buck Aug 16, 2006 8:08 PM

I think the shorter tower is the 48 storey one and the taller is around 55.

Lecom Aug 16, 2006 9:00 PM

Looks sweet, but Trump needs to come up with a little more creative names for his buildings or else get his ass kicked.

Wheelingman04 Aug 17, 2006 8:27 AM

Sure looks nice.

mczamalek Aug 17, 2006 8:53 AM

Edit: you're right Buck, I'm not sure how I miscounted.

Buck Aug 17, 2006 7:54 PM

I counted the rendering twice... I count about 53 stories (could be 55 behing the curve) in the taller one and 48 in the smaller one. Both times.

smArTaLlone Aug 18, 2006 1:51 PM

This weeks Business Chronicle has an article on Wood Partners about them stepping into the spotlight with the Trump development and now the Stratford (Hilton) development.

It mentions that they have been contacted 100 potential buyers in this project already.

New Renderings

http://trump.com/main.htm

If you go to his website and look under "property portfolio" and then under "future developments" and click on Altanta you can see the updateded rendering of the Atlanta project. I have to say, very nice.

I'm not sure how to post a picture when the image is in a flash format though.

RobMidtowner Dec 6, 2006 5:23 PM

From the new rendering, I count 42 floors for the smaller tower and 48 floors for the larger tower, can someone confirm? Also, it appears from the rendering that the smaller tower is slightly taller than the 1280 West Condos building just behind it. Looking at the aerial of that area, I would venture to say that it's just a matter of time until the grass courtyard at the southeast corner of 15th and W. Peachtree gets developed as this will become quite a desirable area. I bet the people living in 1280 West are more excited about the effect this will have on their property values than the loss of their southern view. Very exciting news!

john3eblover Dec 6, 2006 5:26 PM

i think you mean 1280 west peachtree? 1180 peachtree is the "symphony tower", home to king and spalding on 14th street

RobMidtowner Dec 6, 2006 5:27 PM

Yeah, you're right John, I corrected it in my original post, thanks for the heads up!

john3eblover Dec 6, 2006 5:27 PM

i really like that new rendering. Midtown is going to be so amazing in a few years

atlnative Dec 6, 2006 5:38 PM

Whats the Timeline look like for this project? When will it start construction?

RobMidtowner Dec 6, 2006 5:51 PM

Earlier reports said construction of first phase to start early next year with a completion by early 2009.

smArTaLlone Dec 6, 2006 6:06 PM

^^ At the last Midtown Alliance meeting the developers said they would build both towers at the same time. Apparently there is a good bit of interest in the project.

john3eblover Dec 6, 2006 6:49 PM

here's the new rendering

Trump's Midtown towers to house 570 condos
Project to rise at corner of W. Peachtree, 15th streets

By WALTER WOODS
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 12/11/06

True to his nature, when Donald Trump comes to Atlanta he'll make a big entrance.

Developers partnering with The Donald filed plans Monday that call for a 47-story condo tower at West Peachtree and 15th streets, overlooking the Midtown stretch of the downtown connector.

The tower, first announced in August, would have 365 residential units with retail and restaurant space in the first floors, according to plans filed with the city.

A second planned tower at the site would be 38 stories with another 205 units, for a total of 570. The initial announcement did not have those details.

Trump said this summer that the project, to be built with local condo developer Wood Partners, would cost $300 million. Trump boasted his building would be an architectural statement like Atlanta has never seen.

Construction on the first tower is expected to begin early next year with the first phase to be completed by early 2009. The overall project is to be completed by 2012.

MidtownMile Dec 12, 2006 7:46 AM

I really like these towers. I think it fits in very nicely with the modern trends in Atlanta architecture. The curvature of these buildings is really setting up for a very unique, modern Midtown skyline.

Stratosphere 2020 Dec 13, 2006 12:05 PM

Very nice, one of the best Trump designs ever. I guess he had to prove himself in Atlanta's existing parade of beautiful towers.

Well maybe the Trump hasn't seen 1180 yet. And why is it gonna take him until 2012 to sell 570 homes that seems like an long time. But anyway these are the best towers he's put out since Chicago, love the modern look.

john3eblover Dec 13, 2006 5:11 PM

i hope it doesnt have that huge logo at the base of the building...

mayhem Dec 13, 2006 5:53 PM

This is official from the MNA meeting a few months ago

Trump tower 1: 47 stories @ 576'
Trump tower 2: 39 stories @ 452'

Yes it definitely will. I think it should, we should be proud of having, and embrace, Trump in Atlanta.

john3eblover Dec 13, 2006 6:09 PM

but everyone will know that its trump towers...i just think it looks kind of silly with that huge T...like a giant trademark sign. Its like a billboard on the side of the building. I'd rather see a traditional sign at the ground level...

Atlriser Dec 13, 2006 9:17 PM

THANK YOU mayhem! Let’s see our schools have already turned socialist teaching the concept that everyone is the same and frowning upon self achievement, our congress becomes more socialist with every election and new tax law written....

It’s time we start admiring again self achievement in this country and get rid of that attitude of loathing toward those that succeed in life. Every meeting I attend in regards to local government I hear this same crap about others not liking it when their neighbor has something they don’t or how we need to put a law here limiting the ability of others to achieve…good grief Charlie Brown!

Hell, Trump should stamp it in every piece of glass if he wants to IMO!

Sorry john3eblover if I’m taking your comment out of context that’s just the way it came across upon reading.

john3eblover Dec 13, 2006 10:43 PM

obviously i think there should be some kind of signage on the building, it just looks larger than i'd like in the rendering. thats all im sayin. i don't want the sign to be 20% of the building height.

sabino86 Dec 19, 2006 4:01 AM

I'm trembling in anticipation. Now if they just tear down the part of the Atlantic Ctr. Plaza garage fronting 15th, it would be perfect.

smArTaLlone Dec 21, 2006 3:30 PM

From the site plan it looks as if the site is somewhat L shaped which explains the orientation of the project.

But the site plan on the last page says Tower 2 is only 38 stories.

427MM Dec 23, 2006 8:56 PM

I like them, it feels good to look at the roof lines of the buildings and see how they simply take a break from one another for a moment. Score 1 for Atlanta.
