^ Considering most vehicles have had built in anti-theft devices for the past 20 years, was it really necessary for the govt. to force all who pay socialist auto insurance to contribute to anti-theft immobilizer's for old vehicles? The lone person I knew who was ordered to get an immobilizer had it installed in a vehicle that was worth less than the immobilizer itself.
|
^ exactly right. But don't fool yourself for a minute into thinking people with older vehicles that were often stolen (Chrysler products mostly) weren't secretly hoping their vehicles would be stolen and written off.
Why would anyone spend money to protect their 1990 Dodge Caravan from being stolen? That's right they wouldn't, so the gov't had to step in. (I had a 1990 Dodge Caravan that received to immobilizer) From a public safety and insurance standpoint, it seems to be a no-brainer, and has had obvious, significant results. |

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/st...olen-cars.html So, either the stock immobilizers car companies have been installing are junk, or you severely over-estimate the number of post 1990 cars that have built in immobilizers. |
^ Okay Bdog just for you I'll correct my dates, instead of 1991 as I originally stated the the year is now 1994 that most vehicles have some sort of factory anti-theft device. And 1994 is 17 year old vehicle already so the value of that vehicle wouldn't be that much.

^ really? Polo Park to the transit building on Osborne? Wow. I google mapped the distance - just over 6km. Impressive.
And I thought my walk was long. From my house to our office downtown, it's about 3.5 km each way. |

I have a split that's typically an hour and a half (usually late pulling in on the first run) and it sure beats sitting around. Only doing it for 2 more weeks though, then on the an early evening straight run, which means my dogs will get walked more often! I like the idea of 2 3.5km walks though. Easier at one, less time in the elements. Hope to move back closer to downtown this year or next. Half hour walk from work would be ideal. |
