The aliens have landed. Preliminary renderings of Zaha Hadid's first residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere are out. The guys at exmiami.org got a hold of the renderings.

Developer: Gregg Covin (developed 10 Museum Park next door)

Condo prices start at $4 million for the cheapest units.

the materials will matter immensely, but first though: wow, enormous disappointment for having waited so long. definitely off the hook, but also extremely creepy and insect-like, a nightmarish inorganic hive structure, maybe out of a more prosperous north korea or some other consciously/deliberately evil place.

Thank God it is more interesting that the HdeM tower we recently saw which decided to go back in time and bring back the 60's.

Would have to see more, but on first glance, I am leaning towards liking it.

That said, the cheapest units start at $4,000,000? Holy christ.

I really like it. Great for Miami... because most of Miami's buildings suck nuts.

It does look a bit like some sort of S&M butt plug though...

I like it. It reminds me just a little of the Corset at the Hudson Yards.

Downtown Miami isn't known for bold architecture, but a new condo tower proposed for Biscayne Boulevard could change that. Architect Zaha Hadid's 60-story luxury condo building makes a strong statement: The city's skyline is ready for daring design.

"I really love Miami, but I don't think the architecture matches the city," Ms. Hadid said in an interview Wednesday. "It's a bit too commercial."

If built, the tower—called One Thousand Museum—would be Ms. Hadid's first residential building in the U.S. While developers Louis Birdman and Gregg Covin are confident about Miami's luxury market, they must still complete the financing of the $300 million project before work can begin.

Ms. Hadid's work is known for challenging, sculptural forms that are often sternly futuristic—and One Thousand Museum is no different. The Iraqi-born, London-based architect designed a 706-foot skyscraper with a concrete "exoskeleton" support structure that climbs from the podium to the top floor. Because it's Miami, the building has to have balconies, but Ms. Hadid has cleverly obscured these, for the most part, by setting them back behind the building's protruding bones.

"We wanted to avoid that generic, modernist typology," Ms. Hadid said. "We were interested in the idea of the tall building, and how it lands on the ground, how the structure is manifested."

Yeah, it's too extremely expensive. No one would buy a condo. There is no cheapest price. Nobody gonna like it.

I can see the helipad featured in an upcoming James Bond movie.

Great new renderings! I think this will be Miaml's only skyscraper with a rooftop helipad.

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I like white buildings. So I like the new renderings a lot better. They look a lot less evil.
