heh. same here, can you imagine that, 600m? that would be one of tallest in the world now, not to mention the 80s. would never fly though that close to the river on the south side with shadowing laws. 600m...wow. the bow building is under 300m, so it would be twice as tall. thats rediculous, and as another poster mentioned, a giant mirror. it would be cool to drive under, nice to imagine, but it would be ugly

That Singer building is something else.

Wasn't there also a really tall version of First Canadian Place at first. Like a 1,500 ft version or something similar....

There was a planned tower of 64 floors similar in shape to the 41 story existing structure. That would have put it at around 260 m as a guess.

edit - I'm referring to First Canadian Centre in Calgary, this being a Calgary thread.

does anybody have any old renderings of the cascade development tower that was never built?

The best resource by far is that Calgary Architecture: The Boom Years book. I bought a copy for 25c from the Pincher Creek Library booksale in 1995 and I still have it. Somewhere... It has a treasure-trove of good renderings including the original proposals for Bay Park Plaza (Brookfield Place), Olympic Centre, McIntyre Plaza and of course my personal favourite, First Canadian Centre II...

I saw a picture of the cascade tower once .I believe it was in the Calgary Hearld in the business section jan or feb 1882. Its available on microfilm at the library downtown.
