It's not the tower it's how it's complimented in the skyline as the "stud" tower. NY and Chicago has this mess of towers all over the place where as the Library tower has this iconic place in the middle of the other towers and they appear to be worshiping the Library tower. That's why film making like to use this tower it movies. NY and Chicago have many great building and that seem to take away from the greatness any one of them.

I too think the logo should come off. Maybe US bank will be the next to go under.

Ah, perfect description. I really do fear the day the tower is overshadowed by another, I dont think any other building can "crown" LA's skyline like the Library Tower has done.

It does look as though all of downtown was built around this tower.

^It sounds strange, but giving the tower a circular form probably contributed to that.

hhmm? i think you went kind of far with this statement, HK has lots of ugly bland commie blocks...cant compare the Library Tower to those...Library Tower is not the best looking tower out there, but way better than some HK buildings.

That was an crutial moment for the image of the LA skyline.

I've always thought this building in Singapore bears a strong resemblance except of course its squared off instead of mostly rounded.

Metro Matt-I do too. I saw it a while back too. They're not the same obviously but the resemblance is pretty noticeable.

I've always thought that as well. I do give the edge to Singapore's building though.

Actually, Singapore's skyline looks a lot like LA's.
I always thought the same way as Metro Matt, and those two buildings look as if they were cousins or related or something.
Ex-the top as the crown.
And the building behind that "LibraryTower's Cousin" reminds me of Figueroa At Wilshire. They both have the same top and lit the same, with the same color and kinda the same body.
Their colors are pretty much the same as LA's.
Another thing is that, their main skyline is small.
And last, their skyline is crowded with their tallest buildings.

Like many have said before, this building just fits into the LA skyline. My favorite view of this building is when im driving on the 101 coming from the valley and around the Hollywood Blvd exit or so you get your first glimpse of downtown LA and the library tower sits directly in the middle as the crown jewel.

I've always been fond of this tower along with its half-sister, the United Overseas Bank Plaza building in Singapore.

An absolute gem. I just love the window fenestrations, the way the greenish glass contrasts the light beige facade. And all the little interesting points and angles. :tup:
