LOL. My thoughts (and a lot of other people's, I'm sure) exactly.

I really like this tower and Riverside Resources always does a good job with their projects. The interior condo unit renderings look very modern - white and open - but what decade, exactly, is this lobby and dog park from? From the red barrel light fixtures to the furniture to all the wood paneling, it looks so 70s to me. And those hanging chairs in the 1st and last rendering. Maybe if they added macrame to those hanging planters, they could take it all the way. I grew up in the 70s, btw.

All the renderings:

I really like this throwback 60-70's look. It's so much better than the mid 2000's wavy sterile espresso wood paneling with strips of steel/granite everything/tan tile nightmare that my building has in it's common areas :runaway: Although, that will be in vogue again someday too.

From today. The attached file has some drawings and info about the sales center office at 507 West. I'm assuming this is for the 5th & West tower:

There were workers doing what looked like clearing out the TPA building today.

This project has been somewhat ignored since they announced it would be getting underway this month. There are only five days left in this month. Has anyone noticed demo or site prep?

MTM-ATX Oct 26, 2014 2:09 PM

They have been doing asbestos abatement prior to demolition.

KevinFromTexas Oct 26, 2014 5:49 PM

Yeah, they would have to get that out first per-state law, and then have it inspected before demo could start.

I love how sleek this one is. Very excited to see it go up. Too bad its not 100 feet taller.

Just like every other new tower. :)

Awesome rendering...

Austin1971 Nov 2, 2014 7:33 PM

They should put the Fairmont spire on this tower........That would look cool......

Jdawgboy Nov 2, 2014 7:57 PM

I've been pretty harsh in expressing my frustration with height recently but with this tower, not so much. The proportion and size of the building fit with its height and I think it will make a great addition to that area.

Digatisdi Nov 2, 2014 10:49 PM

Fencing and signs are up

People are already calling the loss of the TPA building "a travesty" and I sincerely wish there was something that could represent just how hard I rolled my eyes

I agree. So many smart choices for a rendering.

The ATX Nov 4, 2014 3:47 PM

The approved site plan has been released. But there are no new elevations or details.

oberthewhat Nov 4, 2014 4:28 PM

I want to see the other side of this. Hopefully not to much beige stucco... but i like the tower and think it will look good in that spot.

Drilling on site

KevinFromTexas Nov 5, 2014 3:55 AM

They must have added the elevation files after you posted that, Hill Country. They're listed there now.

They're files 034 and 035.

458 feet 9 inches to mechanical penthouse roof.

435 feet 6 inches to main roof.

422 feet to the highest occupied floor (39th floor).

61 feet 9 inches to the 6th floor podium.

Those numbers are the ones measured from the southwest corner of the building at West Avenue and West 5th Street which the rendering below shows. You can see that staicase in the building elevations, so for sure that elevation is above street level.
