There are also a number of threads out there that track skyscrapers that people don't typically see. Here are some links :

Hong Kong is glassy!
Langham Place looks awesome as usual. Even though it differs a lot from the other structures in Mong Kong, it somehow fits in.

I can never remember which one is Highcliff, and which one is the Summit. :)

Great compilation, hkskyline.

I wonder if it can be traced back to this building for starting the unfortunate trend in China that is; 'balls on top syndrome'. It's a terrible disease that MUST be addressed.

There used to be an observation deck in that ball. I don't think many people knew about it actually. However, it closed since it is now a government-owned building (Chinese government, that is).

This building was completed in 1999.
I doubt that it started the trend. But I agree that the ball on top is not a good idea.

Having two ultra-thin skyscrapers perched on a cliff is both dangerous and Super Awesome!

Don't the all glass buildings get really hot in the tropical sun?

Fabb Aug 5, 2006 2:07 PM

... hence the abuse of air conditioning. It's very disturbing for a european.

As long as there is reflective glass, the buildings won't be heat traps. However, since it gets quite warm for most of the year, air-conditioning is a standard feature (but not heating).
