there's about a zillion different imitations of the original bauhaus style skyscrapers. unfortunately the inherent simplicity allowed many cut rate imitations to sully the style.

then there's this original:

with the following imitations:

it's strange how an islamic moorish tower with a renaissance capital could inspire both icons of capitalism and icons of communism.

There's a [white] tower in Milwaukee that's almost identical to 140 William Street in Melbourne - 140W was a joint local & SOM project.

First Wisconsin Centre, later Firstar Center and now US Bank Center was built in 1973 by SOM (specifically Fazlur Kahn). 140 William was completed while Firstar was under construction.

These two aren't exactly alike, but remind me of one another enough to post them here. Regions Bank Bldg. Mobile, Al. on your left, and The Fisher Bldg. Detroit on your right.

300 Wisconsin was built before Comerica, and was specially designed to recall the Pabst Building, which stood on the site before it had to be dismantled due to structural problems.

if you discount the spires and their color, they are about the same size and their setbacks are almost the same.

The Fisher Building stands in a class by itself! It is incomparable!

The Peachtree, RenCen, and the Westin Bonaventure are actually fraternal Triplets with the same father: architect John Portman.
Here is the Bonaventure in Los Angeles:
http://www.consultwebs.com/ncphotos/...b_550_2363.jpg
The Peachtree and the RenCen's central hotel are very similar while the Rec Cen and the Bonaventure share the concept of the four subsidiary towers.
