Yeah it's crooked very slightly--which bothers me a lot because I'm usually a stickler for straightness. The photo that I posted has already been rotated CCW 1 degree, and if I do 2 degrees it's too much the other way. The program I have only rotates in 1-degree increments, so what you see is as good as I can get it. I can rotate it in smaller increments using Picasa and get it perfectly straight, but Picasa's rotation algorithm significantly lowers the resolution--after rotation it looks downright terrible.

An itchy elk. Elk are like the rats of Banff as they are so plentiful. Alberta is the only rat free inhabited jurisdiction in the world.

I can't stress enough the importance of perspective correction. Certainly, not every shot calls for it. For some photos, the distortion can be artistic. But for others, it's very beneficial.

Great example - IIRC you had a post of the Streetervile projects where the perspective correction made the shot look particularly like a render. This side by side (so to speak) is very illustrative.

Anyways, I've been playing around with perspective too. I think that it makes some skyscrapers look really sleek and sexy. It's not for many buildings but some look f'ing awesome when you correct the camera distortion.

I want a real one, just for a couple hours, so I can drive it through a strip mall. The scarifier on back can make a paved parking lot look like a plowed field, and there's enough power behind the blade to shove the buildings into a big pile for recycling.
