Not only that, but the edges are hard and sharp, the the balcony recesses and its inspired thinness just make this thing a vertical monster. Most definitely this is is my 2nd favorite building with visible construction progress now, second to only Aqua, which is most definitely a rare building it its own right.

This can't get built fast enough. What a fantastic building. More love!

Yep. . . the geometry of this building is stark in contrast to the ornate buildings fronting Michigan Ave. . . very sexy. . .

Agree with everybody's comments, plus we're getting a pleasant light-blue-glass trio in the Grant Park view with Citadel and 1SD on its flanks.

Its only a little over halfway. Lots more to go.

Alot of people are affraid for this Michigan Avenue street wall. It needs to be left alone.

Afraid for it, why? Are they afraid that these kinds of towers will take away from the historic look of the wall? As long as they dont mess with the buildings that are directly on Michigan Avenue than I have no problem with it.

I have no problem with it either. I think it adds depth. The fear is that they
will decide to mess with the building on the street wall. One or more blocks
back is fine as long as they dont take out another historic building .Im on the fence about how they did the street level of the Legacy. I love this building alot but it might start a trend towards more historical teardowns.

The curtain manufacturer is Yuanda out of China. They are also doing Waterview and signed on for Mandarin Oriental.

I just found out that their US reps / sales offices are all based out of Chicago. Pretty cool. These guys are doing some cutting-edge stuff, such as the Beijing Olympics stadium and aquatic center, etc.

For me, the next exciting thing about this tower is that at the 819' height, it's going to be tall enough to make an impact from the West and South - eg it will break through the 650-700' ceiling of the Loop. I'm very interested to see how this will change the skyline... it's already pretty interesting from the southwest.

Harry, these are some amazing shots, not something we get enough of. I thank you and hope others agree that this is something we cannot lose. This is part of the city that outsiders don't know exists...now that's density, unlike the ridiculous situation we have with the base of buildings like Aqua (not to say I don't like the building, but the development doesn't hold a candle to this area).

Looks like 1 of the 2 Jaume Plensa towers has had the algae scrubbed off so far (see Loopy comment in General Developments thread).

^ Already discussed in the forum I mentioned - seems to be algae, not rust.

Could be algae, but the guys that were cleaning it had large 'family sized' containers of CLR that they were using with their pressure washers. . .

CLR would also kill algae lol.

Legacy looks great. Its really got its verticality going now. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it on TV at Obamapalooza tonight!

Fencing in foreground is for the Obama rally.

Everyone should walk through the SantaFe building at least once in their life.

I think that fencing is for the construction at the Art Institute, not the Obama rally, which was on the other side of the park.

Hawkeye, Jibba (and COBL in every other thread) those night shots are awesome.

Harry those are some excellent shots. I never thought that the side flaps of the wedge would have such a subtle yet notciable effect on the massing. With the angled wege sides that will reflect a slight gradient of light, Legacy really is becoming more of an asset to the Streetwall than I thought it would be. I also never notece before (probably because of a lack of cladding) that the flaps on each side are differnt widths. Its nice to see that sort of assymtry incorporated.

Legacy continues to impress! I will definately be stopping by in a few weeks to gauge it in person.

^Yes, great photos, Harry. They certainly show off the various forms within the whole. Hopefully they will visually maximize all 819 ft. of this baby. I still wish that they hadn't rounded the Wabash face, though. The real prize will be the view from Millennium Park anyway.
