The curves of the Four Seasons are nice, but they don't really look like HK. They bring a sea resort touch to the busy city.
The facade treatment is in line with the context though.

and it's very american looking as well. but it's good, cos it's something new and different to the skyline!

I'm still afraid this huge wall-like structure will block the view of the Center from Kowloon.
Even though it's elegant, I'm not sure it'll transform the skyline for the best. A more modest building like AIG will probably do a better job.

Fabb, i thought we discussed the problem couple times already throughout the years. Although, i still think the height of four seasons should be lowered a little more. But overall, i think the planner did a good job on allocation the towers of the IFC project, and i think it is the best they can possibly do. The Center will be blocked from the plaza in front of the cultural center (the plaza with the clock tower) all the way to west kowloon (reappear at around the harbourside i think). But plaza east of cultural center all the way to new world center (or even hung hom i think), the center is not blocked. If you are in North point the center is blocked by 2ifc, then in wanchai, the center appears again.

Sher

Ya that huge 4 season blocked almost 80 percent of the center from tst, i wish they could built 2 ifc taller so 4 season can occupy as the way Grand Hyatt did in Jin Mao.
But yeah, The center will reappear again around Harbourside, but Boc will be blocked by AIG at that angle again... lol
You can see the center from tst from some angles where it appears between 1 ifc and 4 seasons, but the peak view of this tower is still the most attractive:

I really don't agree.
The essence of the HK architecture is density and the IFC complex lacks of it. By much.
2IFC is far too isolated.
1&2IFC are too far away from each other.
The Four Seasons hotel is too squat.

I would have prefered a cluster of taller, more slender towers packed up against 2IFC, a soaring, more integrated complex that would have added a focal point to the skyline instead of blocking most of it.

we'll begin to see ever more of these re-alignments of the skyline...

not really. in fact, i know they're asking some architectural firms in hk to do a feasibility study for that. so there's still a chance for that to be built.

That's a pretty cool way of constryction. While in NY the building is entirely seen as it goes up, in HK it goes up first and then the surprise of unwrapping comes in. That's cool. I also like it how in Australia they write the floor numbers on the concrete shafts (so it's easier for skyscraper nuts like us).

Now the IFC is nearly completed. It's a very impressive complex. Hopefully it'll function well in the city.

Police HQ is lit-up ,huge spotlight for the main tower and the spire ,due to reflection ,you can see about 20 dim light bars on the main tower.
