These are quite lovely they go with the other buildings in the area.

I love it. Great looking buildings that will only add positively to Niagara Falls.

Why are there above ground parking spaces for a project like this? Is this the norm in Niagara Falls because it's a tourist destination?

Pretty much. A lot of the people that go to Niagra Falls drive in from the cities that surround it (Hamilton, Toronto, etc). The whole city is quite automobile dependent.

Even so, that surface parking lot is horrible.

Wow! Pretty nice proposal. There's a lot of Canadian cities that would love to have this developement going up in their cities!

Yuck. Nevermind the parking lot (strange), but the designs are hideous. The curved tower isn't so bad, but the other two look tacky.

Niagara Falls, ON has always been a bit cheesy, in a good way! These towers fit quite nicely into the general tone of the area.

I really like the colours, and the majority of the design. With a few tweaks I would love to see it constructed in Toronto.

WTF!!! GRR What an awful building! Is this Dubai, or something? This will ruin Niagara Falls.

Bronze/green glass, concrete, and a dome on top, poor Niagara Falls...Hope this is never built :(

What with the haunted houses and wax museums just up the street, this kind of strange design is no surprise to me. I visited that side of the river/falls in 1988 and walking through that area was one of the more surreal experiences I have ever had... "La Villa Strangiato"

Ugliest proposal I've seen for Canada. If NF builds them, it will lose whatever soul it had before.

I live about 30 minutes from Niagara Falls and I go all the time. For people that haven't been there, or haven't been there that many times, this may seem like a weird proposal. The reality is that this fits in with Niagara Falls better then some of the exsisting buildings in Niagara Falls. Lets all remember that Niagara Falls is a major tourist destination, basically the Las Vegas of Canada, and the hotels need to stand out from one another for people to want to stay there. For what they are, I actually think that these buildings look pretty good, I love the Dubai look that they have.

p.s. I am pretty sure that these have been approved so everyone better get used to them, lol

This is What Niagara Falls is all about!

Build them already!

tacky my ass.

Loretto Christian Life, the owners of a historic property in Niagara Falls, are seeking to have the approval of Niagara Falls City council, to construct three high rise towers on a 8 acre property site, which is currently the home of a century old school, and idealic park settings. The towers will range from the low end of just 32 floors, to a monster tower of 57 floors. The tower caught in between will be 42 floors. There would also be two smaller structures either of which could be hotel or condo residences by the falls. There will be preservation work to ensure the longivity of the historic structures.

Take a look at the rendering for this project:

Let's take a step back and watch as Niagara Falls, takes it to the next level of Skyscraper Construction

South Tower (32-storey) - 220 condo units or 484 hotel rooms

Central Tower (57-storey) - 800 hotel rooms

North Tower (42-storey) - 300 condo units or 690 hotel rooms

These buildings really do define 'taste' in the sense some will love them and others will rather live in hell. I'm not too sure but if anything, a colour change from that bronze might do some good.

The bronze colour is its best feature. In Niagara Falls, kitsch and garish is preferable to boring minimalist. The last thing they want to do is bore people to death. They need to go with underground parking though.

DrNest

I agree that the colour is great, I love the bronze on this.

I think the surface lot is fine for parking, and from some of the renderings it looks like there's ramps leading to underground parking structures. So I would guess that there would be substantial underground parking constructed in addition to a comparatively small surface lot.

Hotel development at Loretto to include restoring historic Niagara Falls building (https://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/news-story/9404344-hotel-development-at-loretto-to-include-restoring-historic-niagara-falls-building/)

The past met the future on one of the most historic sites in Niagara Falls Sunday.

About 20 graduates from the 1969 Loretto Academy class came together to celebrate their 50th reunion.

They also heard from representatives of 3Bridges Properties (Group) Corp., a Vancouver-based development company with plans to transform the 2.96-hectare (7.4-acre) property on Stanley Avenue into a luxury hotel and limited-edition residences.

The heart of the project, which 3Bridges Properties chief executive officer Dan Zhang said will be worth $1 billion, will incorporate the existing Loretto Academy building with its mansard roof and cupola. These architectural elements will be retained, conserved and restored into its river-facing facade.

He said the plan is to restore the roof that was destroyed by fire in 1938.

"Because this building has a lot of history, we will retain it and restore it. It's such a historic building that we want to make sure … it really remains a landmark as part of our vision for this whole property."

A 32-storey south tower, 57-storey central tower and 42-storey north tower will include a luxury hotel with "world-class amenities" and condominium residences above.

Zhang said 3Bridges plans to retain an architect with global experience and a Canadian contractor.

The project is still in design phase, so a construction start date has not been determined.

The development will be 3Bridges' first venture outside British Columbia. The company was founded in 2014.

All of the photo links in this thread for the original design died, so here is the original "Loretto Fallsview" development for comparison...

Love the new design. Really dodged a Vegas+Michael Graves red-headed stepchild bullet with the old design...

Wow, massive improvement. Looks very contemporary.

The old version had a 1990's Eastern European look, like something on the outskirts of Budapest complete with a megamall.

Looks really good!

I'm assuming all proposals are now dead or long stalled due to the fact we've entered into a deep global recession. :-(

https://www.traveldailynews.com/post/canadian-mega-project-in-niagara-falls-seeks-out-dubai-based-developers-for-partnership

Three Bridges Properties (group) Corp., a Canadian real estate development company, and owner of the last development site offering a direct water view of Niagara Falls has revealed its intentions of forging a potential partnership with a Dubai-based development company to help complete its plan to develop a cultural-tourism project offering a spectacular picturesque view of the 7th wonder of the World.

According to the company's senior officials, the lion mega mix-used complex will consist of a hotel, shopping mall, museum, theme park, dining facilities, wellness center, shared offices, and condo residences, to name a few. In line with this, Three Bridges Group, which has long been fascinated with the advanced vision, design and on-time deliveries of UAE-based development groups, is looking to partner with a local development group to help bring Dubai’s signature and stamp on an international undertaking.

The new design perfectly contextualizes the area.

The old one seems like an ill-begotten homage to ‘80s post-modernism.
