Love Aura and the Ice Condos. Don't like Trump at all. Something about it I can not put my finger on.

That's alright. Not many Torontonians like Trump either. Definitely one of the ugliest and most aesthetically controversial towers built in the history of the city.

It feels like Trump has taken forever to clad this last upper portion.

Trump is barely noticeable. No one will complain long, and it's spire is sure to cause pandemonium when it's lit up at night. The spire structure is beautiful in itself. With the cladding applied, all bets are off.

• Lifting the spire of the building (now Canada’s tallest residential structure) was the single largest lift in North America – if not the world? Weighing in at over 90 tons, it took over 12 hours to lift the spire in place on the roof of the hotel.



• The wall mosaic in the porte-cochere consists of 500,000 handmade, hand-cut tiles, which took a crew of 20 artists three months to make? Up close, the work entitled “A Small Part of Something Larger” by Canadian artist Stephen Andrews will disclose a textural pattern of porcelain, glass, stone and gold. From afar, the mosaic reveals an image of a stadium filled with cheering people.

my guess is that the panels on the left of androiduk's pic will be on the east and west facades, and the panel on the right will be on the north facade (or maybe the north facade will have mullion free glass, as there is a pronounced "lip" along the edges up the NE and NW corners of the tower, which may indicate the connection of different curtain/window wall systems)



Even on the floorplans at the ltower website, the layouts show different curtain/window wall configurations for the north (top of pic) and east (right of pic) walls:

There are definitely several proposals missing from the 200m+, but no where near the 17 additional needed to fulfill caltranes sig. Still ~30 200M plus buildings is very impressive for a city Toronto's size.

1. Eau de Soilel - 65 Floors
2. Yorkville Parking Deck - 2 Towers 55 Floors/45 Floors
3. 60 Harbour - 2 Towers potentially

So we are now at 27

just figured this out, but there are more 150m towers in Toronto under construction right now then the entire US combined, and only 1 less building over 200m.

Hey, after BAC and Trump I though it couldn't get any better with regards to Toronto skyscraper construction. But now I see the true overlord of Toronto Skyscraper construction, and it's name is Aura. One Bloor and ICE will NOT be able to match this beast in anyway. As far as I am concerned its up to the proposed supertalls to beat this thing in category awesome.

The cladding on the L tower is horrible... Think about how out of date the cladding will be in 2 years if not earlier. The day that they changed the podium is the day this one went down hill for me.... :sly:

It's just as I suspected. It's funny listening to people act sad and upset that they're using window-wall on the tower. Personally I think what they have started to put up is better then what I was anticipating so this tower still ranks a solid 7/10 on my interest chart. Also people should wait for more then just a tiny section to reserve judgement. The choice of window-wall might look great when more is installed.
