Locke Street Farmers’ Market Opening Celebration

May 25, 2011 – Hamilton: The Locke Street Farmers’ Market is focused on bringing fresh, local, sustainable foods straight from farmers and producers to downtown Hamilton. It strives to build community by connecting customers with the families who grow and make their food. The Locke Street Farmers’ Market is celebrating the start of its second season with ‘Taste of Locke.’ The Market is partnering with restaurants and shops on Locke Street to bring guests samples featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farmers. Guests will get to explore Locke enjoying samples and live music to celebrate spring.

Locke Street Farmers’ Market farmers providing ingredients include Jerry’s Berries, ManoRun Farm, Backyard Harvest, and Richardson’s Farm. Restaurants and shops using these ingredients in samples include Cheese Shoppe on Locke, Earth to Table Bread Bar, Forrat’s Chocolates, Goodness Me!, Il Fiasco, Chuck’s Burger Bar, and The Courtyard. The Greenbelt Farmers’ Market Network is supporting the event and will have information and giveaways available.

‘Taste of Locke’ will be held rain or shine on Thursday, June 9 from 6pm to 8pm at Fenian Films (211 Locke Street South). Tickets are $15 and are available for advance purchase at Cheese Shoppe on Locke and Earth to Table Bread Bar.

This event marks the start of the market season. Residents are encouraged to return to 211 Locke Street South every Thursday between 3pm and 7pm to purchase fresh, local food straight from the farmers and producers of the Locke Street Farmers’ Market.
