Yeah, it was a bad loss. The Jazz fell apart in the fourth like I've never seen. Too bad. But I still love em, and I'll be rooting for them tonight. Again, that's sports. I hate LA too. I loathe everything about them, but perhaps nothing more than how they just throw money and fame at the biggest, best, and least loyal players to bully the rest of the league. that's one thing I love about the Jazz. We're a small market team. We have little to lure players with besides good fans and a winning tradition. When we win, it's because we played together and played hard. If/when we get a championship, it won't be because we bought one, it will be because we fought for one and beat the odds.

Well said. :worship:

At least the Jazz won last night when they beat Orlando. I really hope the Jazz can beat LA on Saturday.

There you go Projects. The Jazz may have their ups and downs, but they handed it to the Lakers tonight. And Wes Mathews held Kobe to 7-24 shooting. Of course, the reason will be that once again, Kobe is nobly playing through injury. Whatever. He sucked. And I loved it.

Even I had to hand it to them that they did much better then I first thought. Going 3-1 this week when they had to play the Orlando, Spurs and the Lakers twice isn't bad at all.
Even if they keep winning I still feel that the slow start to this season is going to come back and bite them later on and that I don't think they will ever catch up and pass Denver if Denver keeps winning.

Yea It was a pretty disapointing loss last night. We will really see where the jazz are on this East Coast swing. I still have faith, they will have a breakout run. Its gonna be Utah and Denva battling for the title since Portland is hurting right now.

That would be hard for Utah IMHO Mello is going to most likely be the Leagues MVP this Season! And all the hard work and minimum 32 pts per game he is a man on a mission! And that mission is bringing Denver a CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

Denver was close last year, but the Lakers proved to be a little too strong, but our bench this Season and the Starters like Nene and KMart are really stepping up thier game too.

GO NUGGETS!

Don't say that bro, next thing you know this thread will be locked down! LOL ;)
Although it does kinda seem like an identity crisis logo. First off there is no relation to Jazz Music in Utah what so ever! It's a transplant team from New Orleans. How that happened? Or better yet why it happened? I couldn't tell ya. But the Nuggets Originated from right here in the Mile High City.

Oh did I mention that the Nuggets beat the Spazz last night in Utah? And a few key players on Nuggets bench were not even playing!!!

It happened because they moved the team from New Orleans to Utah :) Why? Because they were bought my Larry Miller who lived in Utah. I don't mind the name, just the logo / identity. Regardless if the Nuggets originiated in Denver, you can't be happy with that name ;) And the Jazz look is similar to the Nuggets, though it was the Nuggets who changed theirs to reflect what the Jazz looked like, including the blue colors. I don't like the Nuggets look either - seems an odd mix. Though adding in some navy blue this year helped.

You guys should go back to this:

Not so much. Denver went navy blue in 93/94 and to powder blue in 2003/04. The jazz weren't in blue until 2004/05

^ That one was one of the Best logo designs, even if now it would be considered "gay" or "gaypride" it wasn't part of that during that time period. LOL, So I was listening to the game up til the last 30 sec of the game since the Jazz were behind by 4 points. I didn't even know they won til this morning when I looked at the sports in the newspaper. I remember asking myself "I wounder how much the Jazz lost by" only to see a photo of the Jazz all jumping for joy after the game winning shot. A part of me kicks myself for not sticking around. But yet how many times do you see the Jazz make a 3-pointer buzzer beater when behind?........Like never. :haha:
But good win for the Jazz, I'll give them that. Now watch as they lose to a bad time at home. :haha:

I was at the game. It was amazing. It sure was funny to see maybe a quarter of the stadium empty out with about two minutes to go. Those people, who paid good money for that game, robbed themselves. Suckers. They're so like the half-assed, fair-weather fans I've made comments about on this thread. Sucks to be you. If you can't take the worst moments, seems you don't get the best ones either. It was pandemonium in that place. So much fun.
The Jazz have played awesome of late. They destroyed Dallas and Miami, by a total of over 50 points. Then, when they're offense is a complete mess against the Cavs, they grind it out on defense, play their guts out til the clock runs out and come away with an amazing win. That's all I'll ever ask of my team.

The Jazz dispatched the Bucks easily enough tonight. That's four straight very convincing wins. The only one they didn't win by double figures was against Cleveland, and that one they won on pure guts and effort.

Jazz sign Gaines for season

USA Today

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Jazz have signed rookie point guard Sundiata Gaines for the rest of the season.

Gaines has had two 10-day contracts with the Jazz, who said Monday he will be spending the remainder of the season with Utah.

Gaines has been a fan favorite since his 3-pointer at the buzzer beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 14.

He has played in seven games since the Jazz picked him up from the NBA Development League Idaho Stampede.

The Jazz also said Monday they have reassigned reserve center Kosta Koufos to the Utah Flash of the NBADL.

How have the nuggets been lucky? If anything it's the opposite.. they are playing down to competition again (which they had a talent for doing back in the 80's when Alex English was around) esp when they are possibly tired (back to back after an OT - game at Washington looked horrid on paper - I'm glad I dind't find a place to watch it)

REALLY!? utah would have been a FULL SWEEP! but Both Chauncey and Mello were absent for game 4 between Denver and Utard. A Spazz can call A Nugget a chicken all he wants. None of it really matters until the end of the Season. I am confident where my team will be, let's go back and check some posts from the Spazz fans and see how confident you guys have been this Season.

Up until late it's been alot of bitching and moaning about how the Spazz suck! And Boozer needs to go away yabba dabba do! Last year Denver played well in the Finals with LA. Yeah, I don't think anybody but a homer could be calling the Nuggets lucky these days. They're for real. They've proved it.
Near the start of the New Year, an ESPN analyst picked Utah to finish 2nd in the West. When he made that prediction, Utah was sitting in 9th place. He seemed to know what he was talking about. Utah has lept up to 3rd, and isn't far behind Denver, but I think he underestemated the Nuggets. I don't think Utah will fall below the 3rd seed, but cathing Denver won't be so easy.

Well last season the Nugs where just lucky that the Jazz had all their injuries that kept them from winning more then 50 games. Hell they were lucky to even win 48 games.

This season the Nugs are lucky again that the Jazz had their piss poor start to the season. Sure now the Jazz are playing some great B-Ball. But I still have a feeling when the season's over the Jazz will be one or two games shy of passing up Denver and then the Jazz will be looking back at those home loses to below .500 teams.

So in other words watching the Jazz try to catch up to Denver and pass them up is like watching paint dry. They could of tied for the first time this season, but instead they are going to full back a game. It's frustrating.

Really? being better at losing is what we're going to argue now?

Both Utah and Denver are playing great.. I'd only be "slightly" less thrilled if it was Utah who knocked the Lakers down a couple pegs. From the way both teams are playing either could (so might the Mavs.. we'll see how they do now). But really.. is there anything more pathetic than saying "we've lost the championship more than you have?"

Oh, that makes sense. In that case, yeah, the Nuggets did get lucky that they didn't get caught. The Jazz almost had that game even without D-will and AK.
Still, I don't think you're right about the Lakers being a sure bet against the Nuggets. Denver is tough, and they handed it to LA just a week ago. If anyone in the West can beat LA, it's Denver. And, though as a Jazz fan I don't like Denver, I'll take them over LA a hundred times.

I don't look for this one to make much of a difference. Same goes for the Spurs. They're run is over. And their summer trades for Richard Jefferson were supposed to make them contenders again. Then last month they were desperately trying to unload him.
Trades don't solve teams problems as much as people would like to think. Unless it's just adding a final piece, say with Denver adding Billups or Cleveland adding Jamison, it's just a new player hopping on a bandwagon with wheels falling off. The Mavericks short-comings aren't solved by this addition. I'm thinking the standings aren't gonna change much in the top 4 the rest of the season. There may be a bit of volley, but my guess is that this is how it will play out:

Not as pathetic as your Nuggets. Again as long as the Lakers are around you clowns will only be 2rd best.

Which apparently you revel in.. so which is it for us? Should we be thrilled to be 2nd best as you are with the Jazz; or should we keep trying to get a championship and not spend time pointing out to teams like say OK that they've never been to the Western conference finals and so they suck (I know they went as Seattle don't bother with that)?

No I'm just saying it's kind of pathetic that the Denver Nuggets have been around since the 70's and til this day they still have yet to make it to the NBA Final while the Jazz have been twice. Who cares if the Jazz lost both times. Lets see how well the Nugs would do against the greatest NBA player of all time. My point was that the Jazz have gone further then the Nuggets have. They lose a close one and you're back ragging on them. But then someone else defends their own team and suddenly you praise the Jazz as winners, and tear on other fans about their teams. Do you even like sports? Or is being better than someone else all you care about?

Wait has the "Chicken Nuggets" EVER been to the NBA finals?......no. And the Jazz have been there what...twice. Sure they lost, but at least they made it twice while Denver is yet to go once. I think as long as kobe is playing for the Fakers the Denver Nuggets will always be their bitches in the playoffs ( And this is coming from someone who really hates the Lakers. )

REALLY!?

Last I checked Utah doesn't have an NFL Franchise! "Probably never will"

this is a NBA Thread at least last I checked. Good call though about my saying the Broncos going all the way and not doing so. It's called being a fan, and having faith and hoping and praying every Sunday. I guess when Utah ends up with an NFL Franchise in 50 Years or so, then you might understand. Until then, let's just stick to the NBA topic of the Thread there sporto!!! :whip:

And as for LA vs Denver we will see, I sure hope you don't end up eating your words and Denver achieve something that Utah has yet to do. Not only an NBA Championship but an NFL team as well. Speaking of Bitches Utah sure does like to play catch up when it comes to Colorado don't they! Too bad Utah will ALWAYS Be in the REARVIEW!!!

But if we're going to do this kind of talk:

Utah has savored the sweet sweet bliss of yelling "We're number two!!" .. twice. And yeah thats an ok feeling - its probably as great as getting to watch your twin brother get to bang the prom queen, GREAT feeling that. I know because Denver got to do that 4 times before the 2 football world championships. This also happened once in baseball. Sadly the Avalance have never gotten to enjoy being second best like the mighty mighty Jazz, because the same Nuggets owners, who you claim are pathetic, put two championship teams together in two finals appearances in hockey.

Believe me, Denver knows how wonderful it is to be also-rans because the city's sports scene was at that point until the 1990's... Utah doesn't have to teach us how to do that; if you can continue to not win championships from your Baseball, Football and Hockey pro franchises you might be able to show the whole country how to master being that though.

Salt Lake will get a NFL team sooner then 50 years. That's a lame comment. I could go as far as say something like maybe "Denver will get to host the Winter Games in 50 years". But that's beside the point.

Coming off the bench with Jason Terry, Dampier, Stevenson, and a few other good role players.

They just beat the Lakers tonight without Butler, a 20 ppg player. They're going to be very, very tough.

The Western playoffs are going to be GREAT, even in the first round.

I have to disagree. Butler was a 20ppg player in washington, yes, but he won't be in Dallas. He'll get less touches. Dallas also plays a substantially different system than washington. Just bringing in a player that has averaged many points with a particular team doesn't make them better.
Again, I point out Richard Jefferson. He was great in NJ. But he did little to help Milwaukee, and has actually weakened San Antonio, because he corrupts their system. Bad trade. Now I don't think Butler will hurt the Mavs, but I don't think he improves them much either.
Either way, yes Dallas has a very talanted starting five. I think though, that it is still inferior to the starting fives of Denver, Utah, LA, and perhaps even Oklahoma City. Kidd is one of the best point guards of the last decade, but he's been passed up by Billups, Williams and Westbrook. All three of those guards dominate him. Dirk is an amazing player, but he is not a pure Power Forward. Therefore, the front courts of LA, Denver, and Utah are far stronger than Dallas. Dallas also doesn't have an x factor player like Andrei Kirilenko, the Birdman, or Odom, a player who can change the whole course of the game without scoring.
But you're right, the Western Playoffs are gonna be awesome, and I'm certainly not going to underestimate Dallas. They're a good team, and can beat anyone if they get hot enough. I'm just saying that one of these other teams doesn't underestimate them, brings their A-game, and has a seven game playoff series to do it, or several weeks as the season closes out, they should be able to grind out Dallas.

Other than the last 5 years or so, Colorado has been in a lot harder bowl games than Utah has since it is in the more difficult Big 12 (and notice how Colorado has actually made it to a lot more bowl games!). Colorado State HAS been in several bowls in the past 15 years (4 since year 2000 and including some more difficult bowl games like the Holiday Bowl). CSU also kicks Utah/BYU's butt in Volleyball almost every year. It's not all about Football.

Colorado has also won several National NCAA D1 championships in Cross Country and several more National Ski Championships than Utah (University of Denver happens to have the most championships). CU has consistently been in the top 20 of the Directors Cup for many years -- which rates all D1 schools based on the success of ALL sports (CU is currently 43rd this year and Utah is 100th). Let's not forget that CU also won the NATIONAL FOOTBALL D1 CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1990.

Not to mention, Denver has also won the national championship for the professional National Lacrosse League and the Arena Football League.

Just clearing the thin air we have in Utah/Colorado :) ..and to also reiterate that both NBA teams are good right now and all of our Mountain West colleges are basically good athletic schools too.

Well they basically lost Josh Howard, who was playing the same role as Shawn Marion, and added Caron Butler, who fits in at a position they needed. I think he'll be a great benefit because of that, and because it also helps other players on the team play their true positions. They just beat the Hawks at Atlanta last night; without Butler again. I think Kidd is rejuvenated after this trade.

Kidd has definately found something lately. That's true. And while it appears Dallas has stepped it up, I don't think the Jazz are inferior to them. A University, a couple of companies, and too much focus on the vehicle.

What's in that suburb you live in BLM?

WOW Things are getting pretty tight in the Western Conference Division especially for the top 5 Teams. Although IMHO Denver has a very strong record against all in the top five. Denver has only lost 1 Game out of 4 to both LA and Utah. and Dallas has been a sweep so far this season! I really like our chances in the playoffs. But one thing is for sure, it will not be an easy run this year, eveyone is playing Strong right now!

Yeah, that's the thruth BLM. What a season. I think seeds 1-4 could go to any of the teams currently there in any order. The Mavericks have been surprising, but you're point is good. Denver has been best when they play these top teams. If anyone can dethrone the Lakers, they can.
I hope the Jazz can put up a good fight too. I'd love to see the Lakers go down before the western conference finals, and the way they've been playing lately, it's quite possible.

Kenyon Martin remains a question mark though, and Denver needs him I think.

Jazz are playing great. Finally beating the teams they should. Their roles players are underestimated - Miles, Korver, Millsap, etc. You know what Deron and Boozer can do, but when Okur is on as well, they're tough to beat.

The Jazz have caught Denver tonight. Both teams are now even in the win/loss column, and tied for the Division title and the 3rd seed. Denver holds the tie breaker, but Utah has an easier schedule the rest of the way. Both teams sit a half game behind Dallas.
I've learned my lesson this year. I'm not gonna make any predictions. It's still anybody's race, but it's good to see the Jazz take advantage while Denver slides a bit.
Denver and Dallas will face each other next week too. What a game that should be.

Nugget's schedule is tougher, but stretches like this for the Jazz are coming up.

@ Houston
@ New Orleans
@ Golden State

All winnable, but all tough.

I could be wrong but I don't see Denver being much of a factor from here on out. The Kenyon Martin injury hurt, but was manageable. The loss of Karl though, is turning out to be the back-breaker. I never have liked Karl much, but without him Denver is lost. Dantley is really clueless and the team seems to have lost any fire and is just going through the motions. The organization has declared Karl will be back in time for the playoffs, but that's looking like wishful thinking considering Karls recent rush to the emergency room with severe blood clots in his legs and lungs and his apparent inablility to communicate whatsoever. That doesn't sound like a man looking to return to NBA coaching any time soon if at all. Dallas will more than likely crush Denver on Monday. That will be the final game of a five game road trip for Denver that included two back to back games. After playing Orlando on Sunday I doubt Denver will give Dallas much of a game.

The Spazz have really been playing well, the Thuggetz are struggling a little bit with K-Mart out and the rookie Lawson missing is hurting the bench rotation and overall points being scored. I'm not to worried about Denver come Playoff time. Dallas is looking pretty sharp too, but LA is simply a beast and especially in the Playoffs. This is an exciting Season that's for sure.

The only difference between LA and Denver, is LA actually wins the gimme games. Dallas has become far over-rated, because of their win streak they had. OKC is more dangerous than Dallas or Jazz, but will not be able to play properly come playoff time, because of lack of experience. Utah is most dangerous, but will tire over a playoff series, as will Dallas. If Denver gets Kenyon and Karl back as currently planned and LA doesn't get Bynum back, I don't see how the Lakers can get past Denver.
