The biggest concert announcement of the summer is happening this Monday morning on Y108. Tune into Ben and Kerry at 6:10am this Monday and be the first to find out who’ll be rockin’ the Hammer this summer.

Guns n’ Roses would be my guess. Although a stop from the Kid Rock/Skynyrd tour would count as major on the Y scale.

Perhaps the Face2Face tour will be making a stop at Copps?

Perhaps the Face2Face tour will be making a stop at Copps?

That'd definitely be massive. And probably wildly expensive, considering that even with the low-cost ballast of upper decks at Rogers Centre, lower bowl and floor seats are around $300.

I'm not sure that tour would be promoted by Y108.

AC/DC perhaps? I think the Eagles are touring as well.

John Fogerty plays Hamilton May 28

Celebrates 69th birthday in Steeltown

John Fogerty, the heart and soul behind the swamp-rock sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival, will be celebrating his 69th birthday on Thursday, May 28, in Hamilton with a concert at Copps Coliseum.

Tickets — priced at $67.50 plus fees and service charges — go on sale Monday, March 30, at 11 a.m. through Copps Coliseum box office, online at ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 905-527-6777.

Although Fogerty is a native of Berkeley, Calif., the sound of his music was — as one of CCR’s first hits put it — Born on the Bayou.

Fogerty formed the band with his late brother Tom after being discharged from the U.S. army in 1967 and scored instant fame with a string of hits including Proud Mary, Susie Q, Up Around The Bend, Who’ll Stop The Rain, Bad Moon Rising and Travelling Band.

Fogerty — the band’s song-writer, lead vocalist and lead guitarist — dissolved CCR in 1972 as a result of internal dissension and contractual problems with the band’s record label, Fantasy.

Known for his gravelly vocals and combative guitar solos, Fogerty returned to popularity in 1985 with his solo hit Centerfield. His latest album, Revival, was released in late 2007. It was nominated for a Grammy as best rock album of the year, losing to the Foo Fighters.

Fogerty is currently working on a new album of mostly country covers, tentatively called The Return Of The Blue Ridge Rangers.

This is the biggest concert announcement of the summer?? Boy what a let down.

I'm a CCR fan, but come-on the singer of a band that split up 35 years ago and who hasn't had a hit in over 20 years is the biggest announcement of the summer.......

if summer has already started, someone had better let mother nature know, since she's been delivering nothing but WINTER lately!
