St. Patrick's Day probably had nothing to do with it.

Chip wagon bus torched on James St. North (http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/532205)

March 18, 2009
Hamilton Spectator

Arson investigators are poking through the skeleton of a burned out British double-decker bus today, looking for clues to a suspicious James Street North fire.

The bus, which had been converted to a chip wagon and stood in a parking lot behind Mac's North End Pub on James at Ferrie Street East, burned early today.

The old tour bus was destroyed in the 3:30 a.m. blaze. No estimate of its value was available.

Damage to the rear of the tavern was estimated at $1,500.

The Hamilton police arson unit is investigating the blaze.

I don't get it.. No matter how drunk I get, I never feel the urge to light things on fire.

Maybe someone was trying to fire up the friers?

There's alot of things I don't understand about how some people respond to alcohol. Yesterday was a perfect illustration of why it's good that not everyone drinks.

Investigators notwithstanding, it remains to be seen if this was arson proper. Could be drunken misadventure.

There was also a fire on Bay S when I was walking home from Gallagher's. Road was closed off but heavy smoke was blowing and it smelt like a giant campfire.
Anyone find a link on that? I've been checking the Spec but wasn't able to find anything.

The fire at Prudhomme's Landing (http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/527656) in Vineland is still under investigation, but I was able to find two other recent local arson cases: Burlington (http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/517086) and Dundas (http://www.thespec.com/News/Local/article/532772), plus 2008 cases in Ancaster (http://www.thespec.com/article/371155) and Burlington (http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/310422).
