As I'm going to be in Hamilton for two weeks this time and staying with family, rather than in a hotel, I was wondering if anyone knew of any gyms that would let me work out there three/four times a week on an adhoc basis.

I'm not a fitness freak by any means, but every time I visit Canada I put weight on :haha: and if I can avoid that this time, I'd go home feeling less annoyed with myself.

I'll be staying near where Cannon/Wentworth cross, so if anyone can recommend something in the area, I'd appreciate it. That said I'm not against walking across town and getting two work outs in one :) I think someone mentioned there was one in/near Jackson Square in another thread.

So far have found:

IAL Fitness (http://www.ialfitness.com/index.html)

Looks potentially expensive.

All Canadian Fitness (http://www.allcanadianfitness.com/home.html)

Quite a walk from where I'm staying.

You can get day passes at the YMCA which is about three blocks south of Jackson Square on James St. and Jackson St. Corner. Not a state of the art gym but the equipment is good.

There used to be a Family fitness but it is a Goodlife now. It had what you need and is not busy early morning or mid afternoon.
Just beware the hard sale.

Thanks guys.

Do you know how much the daily pass at both gyms would be?

The hard sell doesn't worry me, they can sell me a membership if I'm only in the city 14 days!

I don't know anything about the first gym you listed but it dos'nt look very well equiped...and 'All Canadian Fitness' is a personal training studio! not really a gym where you can go in on your own time..

I have been a member of the Goodlife Fitness formerly Family Fitness in Jackson square for about 12 years, I'am not too sure how much a day pass is? as I pay $40.00 monthly 'unlimted' if I had to take a guess I would say a day pass is about $10.00.

Thanks everyone, I'll check some of these places out, hopefully I'll actually go and not return to the UK feeling like a small whale!

Don't know if this is sufficient for you omro but Goodlife does offer a free 3-visit trial pass

I work out at goodlife - I like the fact that it is not so busy. Any machine you want it's pretty much yours.

I know you may be looking for other things, but this is important to me.
