Figures...I head downtown tonight to see the crane being assembled, as reported by gymratmanaz, and the place is freaking shut down! Nothing is happening...no lights on, nothing. What he must have seen was the assembly of the crane which will be used to install the tower crane in the coming days...possibly starting tomorrow, but there were not tower crane parts on site.

Regardless...I took the opportunity to do my first ever night time walk around...

Lights out

Anyone know...is this Z Pizza something new? Wasn't there a Schlotzsky's Deli at this location?

You can vaguely see the newly installed shade awnings running up the middle of the tower.

Nice! It's interesting how the lighting can change the complexion of some buildings, such as the ASU Dorms and the Sheraton.

And I do appreciate the tall ceilings and the grand nature of the entrance to the Sheraton, unlike what we see with the Hyatt and the Wyndham.

My fav...

Very cool pictures, HX_Guy. The different colors on the dorm hallways are a pleasant surprise, and 44 Monroe will really be something when it's all lit up.

The Z Pizza is in what used to be in the Blimpie's spot.

Sorry about that HX_Guy. I didn't think there would be a crane assembling the crane, that would assemble the final crane!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the pics. Looking at 44 Monroe, the light rail stations, and the ASU dorms makes me think downtown right now is like a cleaned-up apartment moments before a big party-- everything's ready, we're just waiting for the people to arrive.

I don't care for it, but used to order it when I lived off 3rd and Thomas because they would deliver to my home. A lot of that California style hippie gay nasty pizza with sliced tomatos and shit on it.

And I miss my Blimpie :(

I like it all right. Its like a tastier version of California Pizza Kitchen.

44 Monroe sure will look cool at night when a decent amount of residents move in! Dig the blue lighting.
Although I like the grand entrance and tall windows and overall height of entry space, the Sheraton design is sure looking 80's! Perhaps when it is completed it will pass as a quality 80's or early 90's building!

Thanks HX
