Long Overdue: A Portland Recap

Ok, so it's been a long time since I posted and I've accumulated a big wash of back inventory that I need to clear out. It'll probably take a few threads so this is the first of X number. For no reason I'm starting with the most current pics.

These photos were all taken this weekend in two locales: Along Sandy Blvd. in NE Portland and in my neighborhood in NW Portland. Since it was 90 degrees yesterday I couldn't resist the temptation to get a sunburn and look for girls. I don't have a map to post but mostly I've tried to call out the locations of various pics.

Sandy Blvd. is an interesting Portland thoroughfare. The rest of the city is laid out in a grid and it is criss-crosses the NE on a diagonal. Parts of it are suburban and other parts, like the Hollywood District, are quite urban. NW Portland, meanwhile, is a turn-of-the-century neighborhood close to Downtown.

I imagine in 20 years Sandy Blvd and Hollywood will be completely transformed. Already Hollywood is rapidly developing.

There used to be a building next to the Hollywood Theater that burned down a few years ago. Hence the vacant lot.

I live right off Sandy near the "timberline dodge" car dealerships. For some reason I find the thoroughfare endearing, even if it's a bit trashy/suburban in places. There is a neat skyline vantage point one gets driving southwest somewhere around 56th ave. I think you need to be in the middle of the road to get a good picture though as the wide road provides a good view corridor.
