In all the subway/rail tunnel talk there has been a bit of talk about the idea of having a indoor/underground city type thing going similar to the path system in Toronto or the one in Montreal.

This got me thinking about it a bit. We current on a very small scale have something of a mini one.

We have the Rideau Centre which joined to the Westin, the convention centre (name fails me a the moment :slob: ), NDHQ, and the Bay/Freeman Mall across Rideau street.

Which brings the question: where would it be logical to expand such a thing to?

1) The first obvious one is a subway station of some sort...Union or otherwise.

2) It could be logical to add an underpass to the government conference centre - even if not used for transit.

3) On Rideau street it would be nice to move the walkways underground to make Rideau street look less ugly.

4) A link from Rideau Centre to Arts Court could work...possibly with a later extension to the U of O if they expand to the Stewart Street area (where they own lots of properties)

So other ideas...where would it be logical and feasible to expand such a network of walkways to?

you could expand it across the canal into the NAC then expand that across (or under) Elgin and then you could connect the whole CBD!
