First Citizens for Halifax Community Event

Halifax – The first of a series of community gatherings organized by Citizens for Halifax will take place March 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Seton Auditorium at Mount Saint Vincent University.

The series, which is aimed at gathering input and direction on issues that affect our city, is part of the Citizen Engagement Process. This process involves three steps: Dialogue, Direction and Democracy and focuses on ensuring our members have a real voice in how our municipality evolves.

During this session, Andy Fillmore, the Municipality’s project lead for HRM by Design will outline the plan to develop the entire municipality, with a focus on the downtown core proposal that was recently presented to Council for their approval. Citizens for Halifax members and the public will have an opportunity to ask questions about these recommendations and will be asked whether or not Citizens for Halifax should endorse HRM by Design’s plan to re-develop the city.

Over the next several weeks, a number of sessions will be conducted at locations across the municipality - each with a different topical focus – from innovation & creativity to greening the environment. Each gathering will produce a set of positions that will form resolutions to be voted on by Citizens for Halifax members at their AGM in May. Dialogue, Direction and Democracy are what we at Citizens for Halifax stand for.
