Ontario municipalities will receive an additional $150 million to help build and repair roads and other public infrastructure.
Premier Dalton McGuinty announced the funding in Toronto on Monday at a conference of municipal officials.
The money is to be added to a $300 million municipal infrastructure fund the provincial Liberals launched in 2007.
McGuinty said the funding will create 6,700 construction jobs.
He added that Ontario is looking for additional infrastructure funding in the federal budget to be presented on Tuesday.
McGuinty told his audience at the Royal York Hotel that Ottawa needs to move beyond its "tax cut slogans."
