Hamilton Light Rail just received the following invitation from Metrolinx (formerly the Greater Toronto Transit Authority), the political entity overseeing the GTA+Hamilton rapid transit plan, to register with their site and share analysis on their developing plans:
Metrolinx (the Greater Toronto Transportation Authority) is developing a Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), a comprehensive blueprint for transportation in the urban area comprising the Cities of Toronto and Hamilton, and the regional municipalities of Peel, Halton, Durham and York.
Our Green Papers will be posted on this electronic consultation site for comments. Three papers are available now.
Registrants will receive notifications of the posting of new Green Papers, polls, and surveys. If you choose not to register, you will not receive any automated email notifications from us.
The RTP will fundamentally improve our environment, the economy, and our quality of life across the region by providing more transportation choices and better service.
In parallel with the RTP process, Metrolinx is also developing an investment strategy to support and sustain the ambitious goals of the RTP, expected to be released in Fall 2008.
The solutions we need to find are both crucial and pressing in all of our communities. Please take the time to join our consultations and also forward this invitation to others who may be interested in contributing to the discussion. We want to hear from as many people as possible.
Building a better transportation system for the region will require some careful thinking and some challenging decisions. Your valuable input will help us make those decisions.
If you want to help create the region's RTP, please visit our website to register:

lets flood this thing with LRT!!
Also, there's a great piece on hamiltonlightrail.com about Ottawa's failure to move forward with LRT compared with other cities that are.
Hamilton needs to jump into the game soon too.

They want you to comment on the hubs plan.

Obviously Hamilton should be a big hub beside Union Station, especially for the GO buses if Hamilton were to get a full GO Train service and can link the Niagara region and Southwestern Ontario to Hamilton's GO Station.

This is where those who supports TH&B Station to be the only main GO Station in Hamilton to voice their opinion.

Already submitted my suggestions which included better GO service to Hamilton, LRT and a freeze on fares at $2.50 for the next 5 years. Also some others for the TTC (increased funding, fare freeze at the current level, focus on state of better repair).

has anyone read these papers...they are great.
Hamilton again gets some love in Green Paper #3:

We're slowly doing some things right, but could really transform the way this city operates if city hall would get it's act together.

Hamilton kinda got lucky with the setup as the top 2 officals are from Burlington and then Hamilton has it's own memeber. Unlike Brampton where Hazel is suppose to represent Peel Region when really she just cares about Missy.

That is for the best for the entire system.
