Sabino, excellent photos, thank you!!

I cannot help but notice, however, that the streets are utterly devoid of people. Despite all our efforts to provide sidewalks, streetscapes, trees, parks, retail, etc., there's nary a soul in sight. It gives our city an almost post-apocalyptic look. Where’d everyone go?

Sometimes the photographer will try to avoid getting random folks in the photos, because the purpose is to photograph buildings and construction.
And also a couple of the areas pictured are not big pedestrian centers, but then again Atlanta isn't traditionally a big pedestrian city either. Could any of these be part of the reason we don't see people?

Heh. Well, I certainly don't expect to see anyone strolling down the connector, but I would have thought we'd have a few pedestrians out and about in places like Peachtree in the heart of midtown, on 14th Street, at 10th and Piedmont, in Piedmont Park or Atlantic Station. Especially on such a beautiful day.

But perhaps you are right that we're simply not a big pedestrian city. I tend to think of Atlanta in the 1970s and 80s, when there were throngs of people walking about. I guess I need to crawl out of my time capsule.

:hmmm:

Widening of the Downtown Connector

I believe that this is part of the 14th Street Bridge Project, not actual widening of the connector. At least, that is what I read online.

That was the intention, otherwise I would have added some eye candy if you know what I mean. ;)

I agree, looks like something hit Atlanta and the city is a ghost town all of a sudden. :)

Great picture, Atlanta is a beauty.
