NBC is pulling the plug on Bionic Woman, according to Spoiler TV and other Internet television websites.

The shot-in-Vancouver series starring Michelle Ryan was rumoured to be in trouble, and production stopped last month due to the Hollywood writers' strike.

The show's pilot this fall drew 13.9 million viewers but by the eighth episode, the figures dropped to just 5.9 million.

A remake of the 1970s series starring Lindsay Wagner, the action drama starred Ryan as Jaime Sommers, a bartender who undergoes top-secret, cutting-edge surgery after a devastating car accident.

Bionic Woman is not the only U.S. television show to see production shut down in Vancouver.

Other Vancouver series that either have - or are expected - to halt production due to the writers' strike include Battlestar Galactica, Aliens in America, Reaper, Supernatural, Men in Trees and Smallville.

Each television show employs between 100 and 200 Canadians.
