So far- Saturday December 22nd.
Who all can meet up?

Looks like Upward and DonB and myself so far.
Where to meet up? What time?

(Eat and to photograph)
I always have Landmark on Central available....
Unless there are better choices?

I'm a soft maybe. Haven't been home for four months so I probably won't have much free time. But if I do make it Don and I can bore you all with law school talk

When did I say I could make it then?

(I can, but I just don't remember saying so) :D

Upward- I just signed you up since you're in town!
Anyways- hopefully we can get 3 or 4 more people-

Any ideas for places to meet?
There's always Ticoz and Drip and That pita place.
I can't wait to get some good camera tips!

I can always do Saturdays. I'll be there. How about we go to the new Rose and The Crown. It's a british pub located where Circa 1900 once was. It will be open by then and serving a full menu.

There is also a new Los Dos Molinos at 9th and Washington. We could do that too. I just ate an adovada burrito enchilada style... mmmmm

I will once again be out of town and not able to make it to the meet. I was out of town the last two meets. Someone must have access to my travel schedule! A conspiracy? Maybe I'll meet y'all in 2008!!

Have fun, everyone!

Welp, something has come up and I can't meet late. I could do something earlier in the day but I will have to bail by probably the early to mid-afternoon or so.

Holiday stuff. Ughh.

Would another date work better Don?
What is best for other forumers?
It seems there isn't much demand this time around!

I will also be back home for the holidays, would be cool to meet everyone. 22nd works for me.

Dec 19, 2007, 1:56 PM
If we met for lunch, then went out afterwards, that would work well for me. I can just leave when I need to go and you guys can go do whatever.

The 22nd works for most people, it seems. Just because I can't stay later for the entire meet doesn't mean we should reschedule it.

What about HX_Guy? Combusean (mentioned you were in)? Hooverdam?

22nd- want to do early like 12:00 for lunch and then go to a nice spot to grab some pics?
Is the place Vandercook mentioned good with you guys for lunch?

It's looking like about 2 pm for the meet time. Call me if you want details. 602 999-7601.

I have to bail around 4 pm or so but everyone else can still go do whatever.

Hey, I'm not the one who started the thread.

The lack of details definitely sucked, though. I didn't know the meet was happening until less than two hours beforehand.

Vandercook-
My apologies-
I hope you see I was trying to get people involved and for final details-
I didn't know we were meeting until 2:00 either!! I thought it was a dead deal.
I was going to post last- second but everyone had obligations around 4:00 and you had said you couldn't meet until 6:00.
It was thrown together last minute- only myself, Upward, Andrew and Don B could meet.

Next time we can plan better....
I will post my inferior pics shortly.

Upward- Great shot! Crazy how crisp the Biltmore buildings details are from about 3 miles away.
Post more of em...

You were provided a phone number to call. You should have monitored the thread more closely if you wanted to attend. As it turned out, you simply weren't available, as we were done by 4 pm and you already said you could not meet until after 6pm.

I'm probably not going to post them until I get home and can prepare them using my good monitor (I generally don't process photos on my laptop).

Plus I'm spending Christmas with my family. I'm planning to stay off SSP for the next couple days.

The one picture I posted is the best one, anyway. ;)

you of all people should be able to understand not having time to log on here every couple hours.

Don B.
Dec 24, 2007, 2:35 PM
^ Which doesn't change the reality that you could not have attended, no matter what "concrete" or not so concrete plans had been made. As I wrote before, AFTER I commented that I could not meet later because of other commitments and we started talking about an earlier start time (e.g. lunch or early afternoon), you came in and wrote that you could not meet before 6 pm. That means you were hosed no matter what, unless some of the other forumers wanted to stick around waiting for you to become available so they can be pleasured by your scintillating presence.

No one else stepped up to make a concrete plan, so I took the initiative to actually make something happen. Unfortunately, I had to do it via telephone because there wasn't much time. I worked the phones of the forumers I knew and we managed to get something set up. A forum meet shouldn't be as complicated as booking the tea room at the Biltmore, for crying out loud.

Perhaps you can attend the next meet, perhaps not. In the greater scheme of things, that's the way the old ball bounces.

Don's phone number was provided, yes. It was the best way to do a meet on such short notice. I will propose a new meet sometime in the new year (January).

I propose to meet in Downtown Scottsdale, since the last meets were mostly in Phoenix & Tempe (plus, I work for the city and would like to show it off). The Southbridge Development on Stetson Drive is a nice place. I recommend the Food Bar, great Chicken Panini and a killer Cuban Sandwich.

We can meet there, then walk on over past the Waterfront, then head on over to Optima Camelview Village (Joel aka Loftlover indicated at the last meet that he can possibly give us a tour). Sound like a good plan?

Here are some photos. After our lunch at George & Dragon, we drove on over to the Landmark Tower about a mile north, then took the elevator to the 18th floor. Now, Joel and I had a simple digital camera, so mind the quality on these photos compared to Don & Chris' photographs (they used their big cameras). Enjoy!!!

Here are some more of my pictures. Sorry this took me so long! I generally avoided spending time on my computer using the internet or messing with photos while I was in town, preferring instead to spend my time in town with family and friends.

Anyway, here they are. They're basically the same as those that have already been posted. I took a lot of pictures, but they're pretty much just these same shots at various levels of zoom.

Upward... worth waiting for  The shots of Four Peaks and Camelback are especially nice. Must have been a very clear day. The first shot to the east, towards south Scottsdale and Tempe, shows the rapidly changing skyline in that direction. That will be an intersting one to take again in about five years. Thanks!
