Lunenburg is a small quaint town in Nova Scotia. Although today it only has a population of just over 2,000 it seems much larger. It is famous in that the schooner "Bluenose" was built here. I took these pics earlier in the summer.

Lunenburg looks great. I love all of the wooden buildings. It's a nice change from brick and stone seen in countless other places. This looks like a wonderful fishing town. The fog helps out with the pictures, too.

Lunenburg is a pretty town. It's about an hour West of Halifax along the Atlantic coast of NS. That stretch of coast is known as the South Shore, and extends down to Yarmouth. There are a bunch of similar towns, although Lunenburg is probably the nicest.

Lunenburg itself was created by German settlers who left Halifax in the 1750s. It is not much bigger today than it would have been back then. It's mostly tourism-oriented and is almost a suburb of Bridgewater, which has the modern malls, a Michelin plant, etc. Lunenburg used to have a big fishing fleet but I think that is mostly gone.

I love it. It really seems like I could settle down in a place like this. I've always had a thing for the little coastal towns of Maine and Nova Scotia.
