So I did something I somehow never thought of doing before... I photographed Downtown Pittsburgh from the roofs of most parking garages Downtown. So these photos will offer a bit of an "elevated" perspective that is hopefully new to you.

but first... views from the West End Bridge... which is the first bridge crossing the Ohio River

Great Job Evergrey. Nice to see the progress on the new PNC tower.

I was once told to leave from that first garage you were at (for taking pictures from it as well).

Great shots of downtown! I love the new perspectives offered by the parking garages and those twilight shots are beautiful. Seems like there is a lot going on downtown... new PNC tower, new condo towers, redevelopment around Fifth and Forbes...

Yeah, soon our downtown will actually have people in it after 5 oclock. We got to get them to keep the coffee shops open after 5:30 now. I always have to run over to Nicholas coffee after work at 5:20 before your last options will be 711.

Any plans for a supermarket downtown to serve the growing residential population? A little while back there was talk of a smaller-scale Giant Eagle.

PPG Place is the tower that captured my imagination and made me fall in love with skyscrapers when I first visited Pittsburgh at age 4... so I certainly am at the opposite spectrum. While there's a few internet critics that can't stand its whimsical, bold design, PPG Place is a spectacular sight and is always the tower that draws a visitor's eye to the skyline. Its playfulness and willingness to stir emotion and imagination certainly broke out of the depressing mold of 50s, 60s and 70s concepts in skyscraper design.

Yes, I do love Pittsburgh. I always thought Pittsburgh was one of America's most incredible (and misunderstood, underappreciated, misrepresented) cities.. and am so glad I have the opportunity to live here now.

The Oliver Building is aso one of my favorites.

Its gritty because until very recently most of the structures in the city were from 30-70 years ago. No new structures for a while = "gritty". That is changing all across the city now however.
