Sushi

YES: Tomagatsu on Broadway (second floor next to Toys R' Us). Serves both all-you-can-eat and a la carte. Never gotten sick before, they don't use too much oil, comfortable place to eat, great service, affordable, and clean. For all-you-can-eat, they give you everything they ordered.

NO: Ebei Sushi on Granville and 41st. Poor service, unclean, history of people getting sick, and they often don't give you what you ordered.



Casual Western Dining

YES: Earls, White Spot (endless fries!), Milestones (a little more expensive than White Spot, but huge portions and higher quality).

NO: Denny's, IHop o_o

Ezogiku: Two locations on Robson Street, serving incredible Japanese ramen.

Burgoo: Another two-location favourite (Point Grey and North Vancouver) with excellent stews and sandwiches in a cozy setting.

Pasparos: West Third Street in Lower Lonsdale. Best Greek in North Shore -- perhaps even entire Metro Vancouver.

Is this a chain? There's a "The Reef" in downtown Vic that also serves Carribean food.

^ It is the same Reef. Those are the only two locations, I think.

I also reccomend the Sha Lin Noodle House on West Broadway at Cambie. Best noodles in the whole city. Cheap and pretty fast.

Best restaurant out there right now is Boneta on Carral and Cordova, food and service are terrific, not too pricey either.

Avoid Transcontinental, terrible service and food, what a same as the location and decor are top notch.

I always enjoyed a meal and multiple bottles of wine with friends at Tapastree on the corner of Denman and Robson. Great food and service.

if you like pakistani/indian food - the tandoori palace on commercial drive is really good

they make fresh naan with each order - the sheeh kabobs are great - go easy on the green stuff ;)

honestly, I wouldn't really recommend lumiere 'cuz the price is just over the top... go for fennies instead... the food comes out of the same kitchen as lumiere...

For a Chinese dinner, my favourites are:

Wang in Richmond at Lansdowne & Cooney - formerly Shanghai Wind across from Richmond Centre, but a bigger, nicer restaurant now (a little more expensive too, unfortunately, but still affordable)
Sun Sui Wah in Richmond at #3 & Alderbridge - MUCH better than the Vancouver location; a night & day difference

The Sandbar Restaurant on Granville Island. I went there with my family last summer. The seafood there was great, though my brother ordered some pizza since he wasn't sure at the time how well my 2 year old niece would take to anything that came from the sea (turns out she liked both, hehe). Service was great and the staff was good with the kids.

Best Service..and i mean extrodinary customer service, The Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown. and they have the best Tiramisu chessecake in the world

Went to Jules Bistro in Gastown last night, it was terrific, service was only okay at best but the food was incredible, it is on the pricier side but well worth it. It's at 216 Abbott, the exterior is covered in scaffolding and walking by it looked like it was closed, glad I went inside though. It's labeled as a casual french bistro, check it out if you're looking for a special night out.

BC Sushi is owned by the same guy that operates Ebei Sushi on Granville and 41st Avenue, which has had a history of getting people sick - even a Ecoli outbreak.

I find Tomakatsu to be quite clean compared to most other sushi restaurants I've been to. It's comfortable to eat there, great place to sit down, and the food seems to be higher of quality than other places i've been to. Not to mention they actually give you what you ordered for all you can eat. Been there more than a dozen times, haven't puked yet.

I had a stomach ache from Tomokazu once.
Just been to BC Sushi once - service was fast, etc. with a good selection of sashimi.
Tomokazu does have a nicer atmosphere, but I've been staying away from it.

Lickerish (http://www.lickerish.ca/) on Hornby and Davie is quite good.

Great food, great service, great ambience. Highly recommend.
