Harrisburg, one of my favorite smaller cities to visit. It has such a big city look and feel for a place of about 50,000. Great shots hero. I love the street scenes in the neighborhoods. A sobering pic of the poor kid from Shamokin, so sad. Thanks for sharing your pics.

I was going to say the same thing Ex-Ithacan. It is funny. If you go out west and visit a town of 50,000 it feels nowhere close to how big Harrisburg feels. Kind of like Boulder, co. It is 100,000 and Harrisburg feels twice as large.

I love the row homes in that town.

The density of the housing stock is great.

Great housing stock. I hope that commuter rail gets built there.

Nice rows!

I need to revisit Harrisburg. I've gone through on the train a few times, but the last time I was downtown was more than forty years ago, and I didn't get a very good impression then. Three of us from Dover AFB were on a weekend sightseeing excursion in SE Pennsylvania, and we stayed overnight at the YMCA in Harrisburg; active-duty military could stay at YMCAs very cheap. Somebody got stabbed down the hall from my room that night. Only time I've ever seen a body with blood pooling beside it, and once is enough.

Wonderful pics as always, hero! It's hard to believe it has been over a year already since I moved away from da 'burg; in many ways it feels much longer, though. It definitely has a lot going for it, it certainly has its charms, and I agree, it does feel A LOT bigger than it seems. But even with all of that, I couldn't be happier and moving from there was the right decision for sure. I like visiting from time to time to see the changes but that's about the extent of it, and after a few hours I am definitely ready to head out again.

I lived in HBG off and on for 27+ years but it never truly felt like home to me for a variety of reasons, and I always felt so out of place there...a very strange vibe that I could never jive with. But truth be told: at the end of the day I never really wanted to jive with it and I was happy to not fit in there...

I've learned a long time ago to never say never, but it's a very safe bet that I won't be living there again anytime soon!
