This is a competition to see who makes the best skyscraper that is as tall as the year of the country you decide to represent got its independence.

ex. The Freedom Tower is 1776 feet tall because the Independence year of the U.S. is 1776.

Rules:
1. Height must = the independence year of a country.
2. Needs to not only represent your country but have a symbol that represents the free and united world.
3. Any style is fine but it has to do with the country you picked.
3. Textures or no textures are fine.
4. 1 year = 1 foot. 1 month = 1 inch.
5. Each participant can enter a max. of 3 designs but choose 1 for the final vote.
6. Design must be original.
7. You must include an approximate floor count.
8. Roof must be under height or chosen height.
9. It can be a Skyscraper, or Freestanding Structure
10. Antennas on top of buildings don't count as part of a buildings height.

A poll will be opened on August 15th. Your Final design will be posted in the poll thread. If you wish to participate please announce in this thread.

ok Go Wild and use your imagination.:D

Aug 8, 2007, 6:16 PM

mikeR
Aug 8, 2007, 6:24 PM
how about we get 2 pick a country but it has to have things that relate to the country in the design

Aleks
Aug 8, 2007, 8:11 PM
thats why i said "the country you decide to represent" that way more countries are chosen. So who's gonna participate?

foxmtbr
Aug 8, 2007, 8:17 PM
I will make a Scottish building that is under construction, growing 1 foot every year. Sean Connery will reside in it and fight to have the construction stopped.

Aug 8, 2007, 9:29 PM
I'll make one for Antartica. okay, i'm done.

Aleks
Aug 8, 2007, 9:32 PM
I don't think Antarctica is a country... it's just a piece of land divided into regions which are owned by 1 or more countries. They don't count as part of the country though.

Austin55
Aug 8, 2007, 9:37 PM
So, I can make a building for sweden?

Aleks
Aug 9, 2007, 12:57 AM
I already made my first 1.
Name: Torre De La Independencia (which means Independence Tower).
Height: 2012 feet to Antenna
Roof Height: 1821 feet.
Completion: 2012
Floors: 120-130
Location: Mexico city

Design. viewed from the top the tower is round like the Aztec Calendar. Different sections are divided through out the height of the tower like the Aztec Pyramids. As the Tower reaches its final height it shrinks like the Pyramids in Mexico city.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Aleks0o01/56.6.png

Symbol of World Unity.
There are 48 flag poles in a round position measuring from 202 feet 9 inches to 98 feet and 3 inches. These 48 flag poles surround a 365 foot wide metal globe which is tilted at 13.7 degrees like the earth and is hollow but has a revolving restaurant inside (i didn't sketch the restaurant i forgot).

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Aleks0o01/56.1.png

Museum.
There is a museum at the North end of the site. This is the country's history museum and has a 600 foot tall flag pole where a 150 foot tall flag is anchored.

mikeR
Aug 11, 2007, 6:05 AM
I'm working on one in Switzerland it is going to be 1291 ft

the only problem with this competion is that everywhere in the world besides the united states uses meters so a building in feet would mean nothing to them.

Aleks
Aug 11, 2007, 6:53 AM
Switzerland is that old?!!!
ok well it wouldn't be significant to the world but it would be to Switzerland. and a building this tall would get attention it would be almost 1300 feet!!!!

Austin55
Aug 11, 2007, 7:04 AM
:previous: San Marinon's tower would be a staggering 301 feet!!!:old:no wait, :ancient:

Here is my proposal commemorating USA gaining independence in 1776

Name:
US Independence Tower

Location:
Miami, Florida, United States

Construction:
2015-2017

Use:
Mixed

Height:
1,776 ft. to antenna/spire
1,400 ft. to roof

Floor Count:
70 floors

Floor Area:
3,300,000 sq. ft.

The spire is the signature part of the building. It will be a world famous spire.
The building is a 13-sided figure, or triskaidecagon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triskaidecagon) for the 13 colonies.
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/654/usindependencetower002hk5.jpg

There is a world famous cafe, a restraunt, and observation deck at the very top level.
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1462/usindependencetower003gs5.jpg

Thirteen 50 ft. US flags surround the bottom of the building in memory of the 13 colonies.
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/3896/usindependencetower004so7.jpg

These components were added as a benchmark for the building's size only.

Aug 21, 2007, 3:07 AM
Alek- You should atleast make a poll thread so people can vote on what design they like the best. It's courtesy for the people who put in entries and took the time to make them. What you doing isn't really right. For now on, be more passionate about you competitions.
