You did something wrong when pasting the files. They should be pasted in the 'Exporters' folder, not 'Plugins'.

When you do it right, there will be a 'Plugins' tab on the top bar in SketchUp.

how do i find the exporters folder??

FREKI
Jul 11, 2007, 9:06 AM
Try "tools"... I believe that's where my ended up... :)

I can't get the damn thing to work right once exported ( reminds me of my days with 3D Studio Max )... half the textures are missing and the lighting is imposible..

Read the manual you say... way too much work - all I want is something fun and relaxing ( why I started with SU to beging with - so I stopped trying :D

Read the manual you say... way too much work

Kerkythea has a manual!?!? do go on!

Really though, Kerkythea might make some good renders, but its a total pain, I was really close to throwing the computer out the window.

C:/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 6/Exporters

It's the same place where the Plugins folder is.

when you first unzipped the file - did you just click 'ok'

if so it means it went into 'temporary internet files'

you have to erase that before you try again

erase by clearing your temporary internet files

Tanster, I was also trying to get the plugin tab to show up. I finally figured it out though. What you have to do is unzip the file. It should unzip two folders, one is Plugins the other is Components. Go to your main SketchUp folder (such as C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6) then drag those two folders right into that window (the SketchUp folder).

There may already be a Plugins and Components folder in the main SketchUp folder. If so, it will ask to overwright the folders. Just say yes, because it won't delete anything inside. It will only add the new stuff to them both.

To make it simple. Files do not go to:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6\Exporters\Plugins"
and "C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6\Exporters\Components"

Instead, they just go to:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6\Plugins"
and C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6\Components"

That's how it worked for me at least.

:haha:Patrick ,and thank god the 80's are over- i told the Lady that it looks like Jimney Glick was growing out of her head :haha:

I spose it sepends on what unzip tool your PC is using

what i mentioned worked for me , it doesn't hurt to ersase temporary internet files anyway , so may aswell try it - but what i mean is that while the misdirected file was there in temporary internet files no matter what i did to re-download it just didn't work untill all the previous traces were removed

Austin55
Aug 17, 2007, 4:26 AM
so what could I be doing wrong?

Mocholate
Aug 17, 2007, 4:32 AM
When i had problems with it , it was because my firt attempt at downloading i unzipped it into the default folder (the one that is already displayed)
which directs it to unzip into 'temporary internet files'

I had to clear my temporary internet files and then download and unzip it to the right folder

tool>internet options > browsing history >delete all

Austin55
Aug 17, 2007, 4:35 AM
I had to clear my temporary internet files and then download and unzip it to the right folder

tool>internet options > delete browsing history

problem is,I cant do that. my mom is a teacher and needs those websites:(

Mocholate
Aug 17, 2007, 4:41 AM
ahh, well i think that if you just do the option at the top 'delete temporary files' it just means that the pages will load a bit slower for the first time they are viewed (but don't quote me on that !!!!!)
but honestly Kerk is a pain in the ass anyway

Austin55
Aug 17, 2007, 4:59 AM
whats all this stuff?Ive never seen it afore,

FREKI
Sep 14, 2007, 4:55 AM
^Both Windows and OS have a build-in unzippers - so unless you are running linux you should be good!

In XP if you right click on a zipped folder you get the option to "unpack" it ( may be called something else as I'm using the Danish version )

You can also just open the folder like a normal one - then just copy the file you need and paste it elsewhere in a non zipped folder

Aleks
Sep 22, 2007, 3:47 AM
O.K. here is what I did. Let me see if it's right

1. I went to Sketch Up 6 folder.

2.I went to plugins

3.Clicked on Plugins again

4.Tried to open this file that says su2kt.

5.A small window pops up saying the file is not a sketch up model!!!

6.Panic!!

7.Try 3-9 times

8.Quit.

9. Come here and ask for help.

So did I do it right?

Aleks
Sep 22, 2007, 3:56 PM

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aleks
Sep 23, 2007, 2:27 AM
I think I copied the files in the folder that pops up right after you finish downloading Kerk. Then I pasted them into the first plugins folder in the SketchUp file.

If you go to the SketchUp file you will notice that there's a plugins folder. If you click on it there should be another plugins folder. All you need to do is transfer what's inside plugins folder #2 into plugins folder #1.

Is it confusing?

Austin55
Sep 23, 2007, 2:57 AM
