That first building was TAC/First American Bank HQ...I think Citigroup bought this firm. The second showed up as an X, so I don't know what it is.

Refreshed and all pictures showed up. The second is the site of where Law and Puryear dorms (I think) were located...near Albritton Tower just to the east of Wellborn Rd.

The second picture is the Interdiciplinary Life Sciences Building under contruction...It will be the largest building on campus when completed with a price tag somewhere around 150mil...give or take a few million. Going to be a GOURGEOUS building when completed!

Oh and Boris...the corp guy that you took a picture of standing in the MSC convenience store or whatever its called...I went to highschool with him, and lifeguarded with him at Spectrum club in San Antonio! haha smaaaall world!

AWESOME thread btw!!! Couldn't have done it better myself! I will go and take some pics of the contrucion projects going up in and around campus when the projects start gearin up/getting their tower cranes up.

That building is huge, and stands out like you wouldnt believe! Its located well east of the campus, past the 6 Bypass. Here are some construction pics I took about 2 years ago:

I almost went to College Station last fall for the OU/A&M football game, I will have to make it down there sometime. Is the campus pretty compact? It always looks so huge in the pictures I see. I can't say I like a lot of those buildings outside of the domed administration hall, why all the boxy tan concrete? I saw a new building though in last month's Texas Architect called the Life Sciences building at A&M that was really nice, it mixed the tan concrete with lots of glass, where is that on campus?

Hey BG, Tx A&M's campus is really spread out.

I think that new building you talked about is near northgate. I didn't get a shot of it.

I noticed that a lot of the buildings looked like they were built in the 60's or 70's. My sister, the Aggie, said there was a big fire way back and a lot of the older buildings were burned.

The Brazos Valley also has really bad soil...this may be why some of the older buildings no longer stand. I'll be surprised if some of the older buildings, like the YMCA Building, are still around in 10 years.

A&M has some nice buildings...some really nice buildings, actually. I'm not a fan of tan brick, though. Unfortunately that's what most of the campus has. I swear the College of Architecture has the ugliest buildings on campus...great location, though.

Yep, isn't it ironic :haha: When I was there visiting, the inside of the building looked like stained cement...that's creative architecture for you ;)

Haha, OU's architecture building is the same way. It was built in 1940's as the Geology building and was "modern" at the time. Like the A&M building though our architecture building has one of the best locations on campus and is thankfully beginning a big renovation this summer.

BG, did you ever see Phillip Johnson's proposal for a new Building B? It would have stuck out like a sore thumb. A model used to sit on the 2nd floor of Building A in the offices to the left as you walk in from the lawn area.

SA...concrete...stained concrete. Cement is a product that goes into concrete. And yes, it's ugly. If you're standing in Building A (the one that faces the lawn) on the bottom floor, you'll notice that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors don't have as much floor space as the first. Apparently when Building A was designed, trees were intended to be planted on the first floor and thus the tiered 2nd-4th floors. Also, I think it was originally designed without a/c...so that's why the windows are the way they are.

Boris, I showed my friend that pic, he says it looks exactly like him...it does...but he's denying that it's him and says he doesn't recognize the clothes or backpack...but says he did sleep on one of those benches last semester...and now I'm getting even more curious.....when did you take these pics
