Wow...great photography! You really show an inspired side of Atlanta architecture that we rarely see. And you've certainly managed to take the only good picture of the Aquarium I've ever seen!

The only ones I recognize (that others haven't already):

19. Rollins School of Nursing
21. Candler Park

I'll be thrilled to find out about the rest--some of these I gotta see in person!

I'm very eager for all the answers to be revealed. I can recognize perhaps 20 to 25 of the 50, and I've lived in Atlanta for most of my 44 years. It's a great set of photos...I wish I had more time to peruse each one carefully but too rushed with work right now!

But do you know the answer? I believe it's Elizabeth Street at Euclid Avenue.

Terminus, I did not know, although I assumed his home was near the Candler mansion (which is the grand house at the corner of Elizabeth and Euclid).

However, some quick googling yields this:

"Many prominent Atlantans lived in Inman Park, including Coca-Cola founder Asa Candler, whose Callan Castle stands at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Elizabeth Street, and Hurt himself, who lived at 167 Elizabeth Street."

http://www.hardenrealestate.com/info/atlanta_inman.html

So maybe Hurt lived just down the street rather than at the actual corner.

ETA: Actually, I see that it's on the opposite corner, so you are right!

Pretty good Randy...I know you're pretty aware of Atlanta and I've enjoyed your photo threads in the past (isn't it about time for a new one?)

#3) Catlike correctly guessed the Humane Society (notice the paw prints) but I forgot to add it the the answers.
#8) Not the correct answer, but the building is downtown...next to a one way street.

#16) I wondered how long it would take to get the Hyatt roof.

#16 is the on top of the Hyatt Regency Hotel
Is #32 the Centergy parking deck?

Yeah, I found a photo of the old Federal Reserve building later and noticed that the facade wasn't that detailed. I know I've seen that building (#8) in the vicinity of the capitol and city hall. It's probably a government building (state, county, or city) judging from the architecture and location. It reminds me of the Jefferson County Courthouse Annex here in Birmingham, so I'll guess it is some type of courthouse.

So, what about my guesses for 12, 23, 27, and 41?

The birds in #38 are on the Olympic rings sculpture in Centennial Olympic Park, right?

Andrea
Jan 4, 2007, 4:58 AM
#8) Not the correct answer, but the building is downtown...next to a one way street.

Hm, that could be the 244 Washington Building.

(four 0 four)
Jan 4, 2007, 2:23 PM
Randy...your other guesses are correct and added to the answer post. #38, the Olympic rirgs sculpture is corect as well.

RobMidtowner...Correct on # 32, the Centergy parking deck!!! That was a tough one!
#39 is not the city jail and (small hint) I'm sure the people who live there would not be amused by your guess :)

Correct (well it's actually Park Central). I'm sure the residents will be grateful that it won't be mistaken for something other than the 'charming' building that it is.
