i think it's fine , all the proposals can go in a new area :D

foxmtbr
Aug 15, 2007, 4:18 AM
^ Well, I'm not sure there'll be too many more big skyscrapers, if any. Don't worry about me ruining the current skyline, I won't. Those towers are there to stay, and that's it. I'm just going to add a waterfront with small buildings.

Although, there are still some undeveloped blocks downtown slated for midrises, and a developer has proposed a massive project in place of the current highway. It was formerly part of Highway 101, but in 1992, the highway was reconstucted a few miles west, outside of downtown, to ease the through-traffic (people not getting off downtown). Here's the proposal site. Renderings (massing models) should be released soon, the developer says. There could possibly be a/some 800'+ tower(s) (but no new tallest).

http://img457.imageshack.us/img457/1818/update762yr5.jpg
That black box is also slated to possibly be destroyed. Citizens call it an eyesore. (BTW, I need to fix the Google logo. It got thrown off when I pasted it in there.)

Also, the developer is open to suggestions. ;)

Aug 15, 2007, 4:26 AM
You should keep the roadway and build the towers over it. Similar to what like they are doing in NYC, only building on train tracks.

Your city is hands down the best (IMO).

foxmtbr
Aug 15, 2007, 4:31 AM
Thanks! I certainly like the idea, but it would be pointless and economically unreasonable to do so in this situation. The highway is defunct and only serves as a tunnel to the other side (it comes out by the baseball stadium, as seen earlier). The tunnel could still exist without all the excess freeway (and it is planned to keep the tunnel).

Dac150
Aug 15, 2007, 4:46 AM
I really just want you to keep the tunnel, I don't care about the freeway (though down the road i think you should make a permanent one).

foxmtbr
Aug 15, 2007, 4:50 AM
That was exactly what I was planning to do. :)

Developer purchases old highway section from CalTrans for $400 million, signs new HQ deal with IBM
Palm Dunes Journal
Story by staff writer Johnny J. Johnson

Tuesday- Local development and architecture firm Foxmtbr and Associates has purchased the quarter-mile stretch of what was formerly Business Loop 101 from CalTrans for a hefty price tag of $400 million. Immediately following the transaction, Foxmtbr and Associates announced they had signed a deal, for an undisclosed amount, with IBM to construct its new western headquarters on the newly acquired land. It appears that this has been a deal in the making for quite some time, as the firm has already completed the design and submitted the EIR to the city. Approval will be voted on next week. They have released some preliminary renderings to the general public. Materials and colors to be used have not been disclosed, but the spokesperson noted that Palm Dunes "has too many white and blue buildings."

The building as seen in the skyline from the south shore:

foxmtbr
Aug 15, 2007, 8:25 PM
Foxmtbr and Associates confirmed the rumo(u)r this morning. Mr. Fox Mtbr himself told me that one of his associates, Mr. Mo Cholate is designing a building in Ruo-Xandell.

I'll do more aerials sometime soon. Unfortunately they show my lack of ground detail. :haha:

Foxmtbr and Associates have released new renderings showing a new building and their options for colo(u)ring schemes. They have stated that they are leaning towards the more diverse Option 1.

Mocholate
Aug 16, 2007, 12:52 AM

foxmtbr
Aug 16, 2007, 2:21 AM
It looks like everyone likes the matching plan. I'll do that, and I'll put a little more detail into theat second tower, as it looks sort of corny with those textures right now.

And yes, that texture is slightly green.

Five-star hotel coming to town
Palm Dunes Journal
Story by staff writer Mr. T

Wednesday- Shortly after Foxmtbr and Associates unveiled its plans for the former freeway site dowtown, rumors began circulating about the possibility of a five-star hotel being included in the mix. These rumors were confirmed this morning when Ritz Carlton announced it would be building a massive 680 foot, 1500 room resort on the site in downtown Palm Dunes.

God damn you, Sketchup! After two hours and 5 pictures, I find out that only 2 of those pictures worked! :hell:

Foxmtbr and Associates completed its two building plaza, sold one block to another developer to make an office tower (the gray and blue one), one to Ritz Carlton (the circular one), and one to the Mocholate Boomerang company (the twin boomerang-shaped towers).

Sep 3, 2007, 12:40 AM
1.how do you make your imiges so clear?!
I export the images at... *checks Sketch Up*.... 2555 x 1701 pixels. I only shrink them when I upload them to imageshack. You have to export huge pictures to get clear renderings.
2.when are you gonna add midtown?
I tried once, but I gave up because it took so long. I guess I'll try again sometime.
3.do you have anything big planned?
Anything big? Like what? I don't have any tall towers planned or anything. Eventually I'll add the waterfront, including a huge park, but it could be months before I do that. I know, I'm slow. :P
