Makati

Makati is not the largest city in the Philippines, 7th to be exact, but is the nation's largest international and commercial center. At least 57 out of the Philippines top 1,000 corporations are found in Makati.

Makati was once part of the capital city Manila it was Manila's main financial district, but on January 2nd 1995 Makati Became its own city.

Makati is located right in the middle of the Manila Metro.

Ayala Avenue is the "Wall Street of the Philippines" where some of the tallest buildings and most important headquarters offices Makati and the Philippines and financial institutions are located. Ayala Avenue is also home to the tallest building in the nation - the PBCOM Tower, 55 floors high and was completed in 2000.

Makati has 84% of the country's private commercial banks, 9 out of 10 largest life insurance companies head offices, and 46 of the 56 embassies.

Travel bureaus, airline offices, advertising and design agencies abound in the city.
