Tandil is the administrative city of Tandil Partido and it is located on the mountains of the Tandilia system. Its economy is based mainly on agriculture, livestock, tourism and mining activity, but recently the software industry has joined.
The city became a famous tourist attraction thanks to a huge 300-ton balancing rock, which fell and broke on 29 February 1912. In 2007 a copy of the stone was put in the same place where the original was situated, which is considered as a historical symbol of Tandil. |
